One of Obama's subliminal messages is that if you vote for Clinton you're voting against hope
and change.

By trying to position himself as the ethereal candidate of idealism, aided by the mantle of the Kennedys, the not so subtle strategy is to try make you feel bad about yourself if you dare not to vote for him.

After all, you're voting against hope and change and the memory of John Kennedy if you don't support Barack Obama.

As a psychological gambit it's an interesting one.

As a political one, I'm not so sure it will work.

Americans don't like being shamed into voting for someone.

There are plenty of Clinton and Edwards supporters, the vast majority of them I imagine, who believe very strongly that in supporting their candidate, they are also voting for hope and change and idealism.

Senator Obama does not own "hope and change," nor does he have any lock on an idealistic legacy.

He is a brilliant politician, a great orator and a fine mind.

But he is just one of three very capable leaders seeking our endorsement to lead us in the fall.

And each one of them, in their own right, represents hope, change and a marked break from the politics of the past.

2. I don't think it's subtle. I think it's right out there.
If you really think Hillary Candidate will be candidate of change, please check her earmark record to private corporations and defense contractors in New York since she has been Senator.

3. I don't see anything subliminal about it, its right out there right in front of your eyes.

The Kennedy endorsement definitely gives truth to your statement of "positioning himself as the ethereal candidate of idealism". In the end, you are right they are all a significant change in their own way from the right wing puke tank we have in the Whitehouse. I still endorse my candidate John Edwards to be that change.

4. Surely some folks will remember Obama is using Clinton's theme from 1992.
I know I do. Did he think no one would remember that?

7. Wasn't HILLARY the one who warned against "false hope"?
I don't think you can blame Obama for that.

10. Well hope is a legitimate political strategy
but not if you claim you are the only one who owns it.

11. Thanks, but I will take a game plan over hoping and wishing.
You know the old saying -- hope in one hand and spit in another and see which one fills up first...

14. "Americans don't like being shamed into voting for someone. "....

That's precisely why Obama's message is more uplifting! He argues for hope...a positive reason to vote FOR something.

If you feel shame for not supporting Obama....maybe something deep down inside is telling you to look at him one more time before rejecting him.....
