Rep. Harold Ford (D) Tenn. on Kerry's Support of Use of Force
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 11:17 PM by BullGooseLoony
He was saying on CNN that, again, Kerry supported using force against Iraq, but wanted a broader coalition.

There's that "broader coalition" again.

We're regressing.

<sigh>

3. So this is something you embrace?
You're for using force against Iraq, now?

5. No, not at all.
But you saw it and I expect it. Kerry will be moving further to the center. No secret

8. Then he'll lose.
That's not the way this election is going to work.

2. Isn't that what the vast majority of voters wanted too?
Didn't most Americans support the war in Iraq, but believe that the U.N. should have been more involved?

Isn't Kerry's posititon, as stated by Rep. Ford, exactly what most voters also believe?

4. The nation is split now
as it was before the war.

Only during the war did it become popular- it was a matter of "patriotism."

The war was WRONG. Period. We all know that.

AGAIN: this is a matter of LEADERSHIP. If Kerry doesn't oppose solidly on this issue, he will lose. Same thing as in 2002. You don't win elections by saying the other guy was right.

7. They didn't get duped.

His position is that he supported the use of force. That's what Bush did.

He's splitting the party, and with this weak position he's going to lose, just like we did in 2002.

I can't say it enough...leadership, leadership, leadership.

9. He's horrible
He's the one who ran against Pelosi for minority leader because she was too liberal and the party needed to be more right wing to compete against republicans.

10. Kerry needs to come out strongly against the war.
He'll get bulldozed if he doesn't.
