Cash for Kerry: It's time to pony up.
I caucused in MN tonight, and I didn't vote for Kerry. But I'm going to donate some money to his campaign tomorrow. It won't be much, but I'll give him at least as much as I gave to Howard Dean.

We don't have the luxury of waiting. As I understand it, he doesn't have much cash on hand, and we all know he's not getting matching funds. The BFEE is going to take this opportunity to start using some of that disgustingly huge war chest they've accumulated. We need to do what we can to make sure that Kerry can counter whatever they throw at him.

Maybe we can have some sort of DU fundraiser. But even if we don't, I hope everyone who is financially able will join me in giving what you can to the Kerry campaign. He's going to need our help to win, and I know important it is to ALL of us to get rid of *.

18. One caveat. If you have already maxed out for Kerry,
you can't contribute more until after the convention. Them's the rules. He's not an OFFICIAL nominee until after the convention.

Of course, you could always contribute to the DCCC to get more Dem Congresscritters.

and I have competing races to think about giving to. Several Kerry supporters have directly told me in words, and indirectly in words, that they don't give a shit about my money. I have a local Congressional candidate who may have a legitimate shot and would need the money. I am going to wait and see how she is doing. Fingerhut will get money for sure, and she and Kerry will be battling for the rest of any money I give. She is way in the lead now.

30. Give something anyway
to get more names added to the donor list. Numbers of donors have an influence all their own. Do the campaign rules allow primary money to carry over into the national campaign? Is what we sent now earmarked for the national campaign.

Also in effect we can max out now and repeat after the Convention? That is personally a real test at the moment, but it is something worth the pain. If something comes through which I am hoping for it could be doable, but I will start with something.

Buy(ransom?) back democracy.

34. I don't care.
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 10:04 AM by NicoleM
Yeah, I get what you mean. But here is a list of things I don't care about:

1. That Captain Electability hasn't yet demonstrated the grass-roots fundraising ability that a certain former governor did.
2. That he's rich.
3. That he's married to someone who is super-rich.
4. That he will probably raise a lot of money from other rich and super-rich people.
5. That he's Skull and Bones.
6. That he hasn't asked me personally for a donation.
7. That some Kerry supporters are jerks.
8. That his views don't coincide with mine on some pretty big issues.

Here is what I do care about:

IF GEORGE W. BUSH WINS/STEALS THE ELECTION, WE ARE TOTALLY SCREWED.

All of us. Dean people, Kerry people, Kucinich people, doesn't matter. We're all in the same boat if John Kerry is not the next President of the United States. I will do whatever I can to make sure that W. doesn't win/steal the election. IMO, that means I'm going to have to give John Kerry some money RIGHT NOW. TODAY. I am leaving the computer to go get my credit card right this minute.

37. If it makes anybody feel better
he does say "thank you" after you donate:

Thanks Nicole, your contribution of $x/month has been approved.
Thank you very much for your generous contribution to the campaign. Your support helps the campaign build our team against the powerful special interests of George Bush. Together, we can replace their politics of hate and hostility with the politics of possibility and purpose.

While I am certain you are asked to give to many causes, your commitment to my campaign and to the larger political process is humbling and much appreciated.

PS--My monthly contribution is puny. But it's all I have at the moment. That's all any of us can do. But if we all do it, it might be enough to beat W. And that is still the goal, right?

32. When Nader convinces Kerry to support
Workable Health Care and stops talking crap about reforming Nafta, then I will divvy up.Until then,I will wait to see how far to the right Kerry goes.
Now, Kerry's plan would only make our National health care costs More expensive and bulky. Reforming Nafta is a lie.
It is possible he might get my vote. Kerry is obviously afraid of offending business interests brow beating him on those two issues.
Until he stops talking B.S., My money and work goes to those more deserving. Besides, he does not need our money.
If Business knows Bush is going down, Kerry will be their man.Money talks, B.S. walks.

No friggin' way! Sorry, but my money is going into two area in order to make a real difference in this country. The first is an initiative petition campaign to bring about publicly financed elections in my state. The rest is going to the party that takes no coporate money period.

Why should I help finance the ongoing corporate corruption of my government? That is like asking prisoners to pay for their own chains. Sorry, but I'm working for REAL change in this country, not some faux change that just continues to empower the two party/same corporate master system of government we have now.

that you were thinking of me and the many, many more like me when you started this thread!

We SHOULD all be chastised since we are not and will not follow the scripts written for us by TPTB.

Shame to us all that would follow our critical thinking, what's good for America and our hearts by working and supporting candidates that will work and support us and the greater good of our country and citizenry.

</sarcasm>

74. See my post
where I state that I am supporting candidates that will work for change!

It matters not who is the president, when both Houses are ruled by repugs. Any judge for nomination can be pushed through by a repug majority.

Once more...

My vote, support, energy and money goes to those who will WORK for change and a better America.

Not one part of my being will go to the status quo.
