The REAL spoiler is Senator Clinton
All this talk about Senator Edwards as a spoiler got me to thinking about the idea of a spoiler. My conclusion is this: Senator Clinton is the REAL spoiler.

If she would drop out, people would quit flocking to Senator Obama just because they think he is the most viable ABC candidate. Then they could relax and really think about who would best serve them as president.

4. No, no, no
No reason for her to drop out. Nobody is spoiling anything because this is a primary race. All three candidates have significant levels of support. They should stay in as long as they and their supporters deem it useful to the overall effort.

6. I'm sorry you feel Hillary is spoiling Barack's campaign bid
But this is a free country and as long as she is a viable candidate she will stay in the race till the end. Same goes with John. I'm not sure what all the posturing comes from to railroad John or Hillary out of the race, after all, this isn't communist China.

It takes two people to wage these dirty fights and Senator Edwards is having no part of it.

I can't believe people ASSume such things as this. I'm sure that was a fair and balanced statement you made since she hasn't done that. Hillary hasn't attacked John but I'm sure she will even though I have no proof, LOL.

9. That's because she is of the "Politically Entitled" set
It's aaaaall about her. The country, well they can crash and burn. So can the Democratic Party. The main point to her is that she gets her pie.

John Kerry had a similar vibe to him, and I'm sure that had a part to play in the 2004 disaster.

11. Well, here is an example of what so many are complaining about.
It's not a gender issue. It's about what is best for the country.

13. no. What is best for our country is to have as many voices as we can
attempting to shut people up is not democracy.

18. May we quote you to the HRC supporters here pressuring Edwards supporters to sign on to Hillary
You know, the ones who keep misrepresenting the idea that Edwards has no chance?

I agree, we need many voices and attempting to shut people up is NOT democracy, but has been too frequently observed around here by those of us not enamored of Hillary.

26. There are some who do her harm with their methods
And it would be kind to tell them so. Their smart ass remarks and personal attacks on constructive suggestions do not help her much.

28. you either have not been here long
or are blind to one candidate. It has been so ugly here for so long against HRC that could not come here...I could not understand why "progressives" would be filled with such hatred for a liberal powerful senator. And I started sticking up for her.

You may want to go back through history to see the progression of the "defense of Clinton."

Anytime anyone suggests that the HRC supporters are awful, I am amazed at the either short memory, bias, or lack of historical knowledge.

29. Been here for years and see just fine.
Ugly against HRC?

I don't see it your way so I don't see?

Maybe THAT attitude is part of the problem, but some HRC supporters will NEVER see any fault but others.

Have a swell week.

20. Just to be clear, I'm an Obama supporter and Edwards should stay as long as he likes
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:30 PM by sfam
But Hillary is clearly a frontrunner in every way you want to measure it - funds, votes, delegates, media coverage, etc.

But pressuring Edwards to get out is silly. The guy really has changed the debate. He wants to stay in, and this is his right. He should for as long as he wants.

22. That's why I would prefer her to drop out.
So the Democratic wing of the party can get down to substantive issues. As long as the DLC is forcing the debate right, we never get down to progressive issues. If it was between Obama and Edwards, we'd see a left shift in the debate. That would be exciting!

Great post btw!

23. Agree
she should drop out or maybe Obama should so that Edwards can go head to head against one of them. Either Clinton or Obama needs to drop out and quit being the spoiler against Edwards. :P I'm sick of being told my guy needs to drop out for the sake of one of the others. I say let one of them drop out. :D

Please, I don't know if to laugh or shake my head in wonderment about the inanity spewed on this board........
