You don't have to like it. I don't really give a crap.

Thank you for your concern.

Kerry's gotta show some class.

It'll be a rough, brutal campaign, but it does not mean that it should kick off on a negative note.

It was nice of Dubya to phone him (though it seems customary to me) and damn nice of Kerry to take it.

This is why candidates shake hands before a debate.

Now let's give Shrub his pink slip.

Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 10:01 PM by Sufi Marmot
Lancdem is right, when the President calls, you answer the phone, even if he's an SOB. That's what adults do.

Kerry deigned to take a phone call from Bush, especially in the primary season, when it isn't even time for the general election to officially start.

35. Refusing to take phone calls simply isn't adult behavior...
Serious politicians don't get elected by acting like junior high school students running for student council. Adults hold to a certain level of polite discourse, the bare minimum of which includes communicating on the phone with their political rivals. I seriously doubt that Dean, faced with the same situation, would have shouted some obscenties and slammed down the receiver.

Like it or not, there are a considerable number of Americans for whom manners are still important, and it would be stupid to alienate them as potential voters by acting like an eighth grader.

Kerry can (and has, and no doubt will continue to) criticize Bush publically on the stump, there's no reason for him to engage in boorish, knee-jerk behavior towards Bush privately, regardless of how he feels about him. The cultivation of dispassionate detachment and an ability to forego emotionally stimulating confrontational behavior are desirable attributes for a leader. Those with future political aspirations would do well to learn this lesson...

Cordially, -SM

28. Listen fellow DU'ers.....here is my thoughts about the presidency
We may not like Bush......
We may not respect Bush.......
We may not agree with Bush.......

But......there is nothing to be gained by disrespecting the
office of the president of US. If we want to remain a strong
democracy, we must respect the institutions that frame our
free and democratic republic. And that includes the president,
the congress and the SCOTUS. We have only one president at a time.
Next time hopefully it will be our democrat nominee Kerry who will move
into the white house. I hope and pray the other side will not call
him vulgar and derogatory names. Respect begets respect. I for one
am ashamed to be the first one to cast the stone.

This is the tradition. Gore made a call to Bush in 2000, Clinton made a call to Dole in 1996 etc.

What was stupid was when your guy Dean started screaming like a lunatic on national television. That's why he lost.

23. Seventh, "Jeff Greefield" /CNN Said: We have two Bonesmen running
against each other...Yale is very prominent in this campaign." Then he says jokingly to Blitzer: "Do you realize if two bonesmen are in the same room and somone mentions "S&B" they have to leave. So, if there's a debate and a moderator asks a question about "S&B" both candidates will have to leave the room." Blitzer kind of cut him off after that.

I thought it was odd for Greenfield to be giddy doing this little joke when most Americans have no idea what it's all about.

This is a fucking serious thing, you stupid ditzy whore, with your stupid perky hairdo on your old, gaunt insectoid head.
What IF they both are asked in a debate to discuss the secrets, and if they cannot, why not. They both gonna be in collusion and just stand there silently, neither one being the lesser bonesman to address it? It's fucking sick. I have no fucking clue what Kerry's ULTIMATE allegiance is to.
