19. Illinois as well
If DK is still there he's my guy, love for him to have a voice and a few delegates at least.

BTW: Did you see that the Tribune endored Obama? I am telling you, some day Obama is going to be a BIG time national player. His creds are impeccible!

33. I love Obama too!
I'm just not convinced he can win. The first thing the average voter is going to think when they see 'Barack Obama' on their ballot is "jihad." On the other hand, the Republican party is so fucked up in this state right now, we might have a chance to squeak someone cool like Obama through.

39. I agree
He will really have to counter the Obama/Osama factor, along with being of color, er, half anyways. But DAMN! First minority prez of harvard law, a constitutional law prof at the U. of Chicago, a very prestigious instution, etc. Plus, he's got the Tiger Woods cute look going for him.

I'm also not happy with the repukes of our state taking away our primary and replacing it with a caucus.

At least with a primary, I could still vote my heart. I don't think you can do that with a caucus.:-(

45. actually
a caucus is better. It's like a closed primary, only Dems get to attend, you vote your candidate and select delegates to send to the convention. So if your precinct caucus only has 6 people show up, and 4 of you want the same candidate, that is who your delegate supports at convention.

( or something close to like that. )

36. Yeah, PA
Feeling a little heartbroken, a little resentful (and a big primal scream directed at the media)... biting back an "oh, you mean some states haven't held theirs yet?"

I worry that this process is discouraging to new voters as I know it is to me... I'll continue to vote; I know how important it is but ,something went missing for me tonight.

Thanks a hell of a LOT, NC Dem party, for having our primary in May!!!

I suppose I will be obliged to vote for Erskine Bowles (the party's annointed one) for Edwards' senate seat, which he will LOSE again!

The last time the primary season sucked this bad was in 1968. And 1984. And 1988.

44. Well, there are the local races!
I just did my absentee ballot today. Interestingly, there were also a couple of really *interesting* referenda on the ballot -- one about SS and Medicare privatization and/or abolishment (that's right, abolishment) and the other about "protecting the taxpayers" by preventing the state from ever passing measures that would require localities to raise property taxes. I'm a bit suspicious, because referenda are usually done at the general election, and nobody (at least in El Paso) seems to have heard anything about them.

But I can sympathize, though...stinks not to really have a say!

:hi:
