Obama on potential Teddy endorsement
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 11:21 AM by jefferson_dem
Excerpt from Obama Interview on “This Week”

STEPHANOPOULOS: Caroline Kennedy endorses you in the New York Times. This morning she says, “I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me my father inspired them. And for the first time, I believe that I have found that man.”

Mark Halperin reports, on Time Magazine’s Web site this morning – and our reporting seems to confirm it — that Ted Kennedy is also on the verge of endorsing you. Is that true?

OBAMA: Well, you know, I’ll let Ted Kennedy speak for himself. And nobody does it better. But obviously, any of the Democratic candidates would love to have Ted Kennedy’s support. And we have certainly actively sought it.

And you know, I will let him make his announcement and his decision when he decides it’s appropriate.

STEPHANOPOULOS: We will be watching for that.

4. I'm sure you know who (and if) Teddy should endorse better than Teddy himself.

5. you mean it doesn't make sense in your odd little universe
if Teddy endorses him, it clearly makes sense to him. He's worked with him, he knows him, and if he endorses him it'll be because he believes Obama is the best candidate and would be the best president out of the three.

And oh, are my posts making you feel like a VICTIM, honey? Oh, so SORRY. You can't handle differing opinions, can you? Does everybody in your little confused world not pay much mind to your petulance? Figured as much. LOL

PLEASE, kid, don't even begin to even think you are even the remotest little blip on my radar. I'll continue having a nice little chuckle at your earnest attempts at being cool and collected, though.

Have a nice life, kid.

Go Hillary!!! :D

2. hmm. that sounds pretty confident to me
Teddy's endorsement would be great, but truth to tell, Caroline's has more value to me personally.

10. I don't ever recall Caroline endorsing anybody. And, invoking the spirit of JFK..wow!
I didn't know I still had those emotions left in me. But every time I read that endorsement I am touched to my core.

23. Only the second time she has endorsed
The only other time Caroline Kennedy endorsed a candidate in the primary was in 1980, and that was when Uncle Teddy was running against Jimmy Carter.

17. Obama has already lost that one to Clinton
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 11:35 AM by Bodhi BloodWave
Well, i guess its not an endorsement as such but it would likely be as close as bush would willingly go toward one :P

"No question, there is no question that Sen. Clinton understands pressure better than any of the candidates, you know, in the race," President Bush told ABC News.

feel free to take this however you want(personally i don't put any value in his words but couldn't resist since you posted that kiss of death thing :) *mortal Kombat voice: George Bush wins, FATALITY* )

6. I certainly hope that Teddy has a longer memory than THAT

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2007/12/obama_called_se.html
"We've got to call up not just Republicans, but we got to call up Ted Kennedy and say, Ted, you're getting a little old now, and you've been a fighter for us before I don't know what's happening now, Ted get some spine and stand up to the Republicans," said Obama.

Obama has NO business lecturing the liberal warhorse Kennedy. No business at all.

11. LOL!! If Kennedy doesn't hold that comment against him who the hell
are you to tell Teddy anything? He'll endorse or not as he sees fit. If he does, I fully expect your kind to savage Teddy in words that make what Obama said look like fulsome praise.

19. I went to bed thinking what a genius Ted Kennedy is...
And thinking that he had something to do with Caroline's endorsement. Not that I believe that Caroline doesn't truly feel what she wrote in her endorsement, but this is the first presidential endorsement she's given since 1980. And who did she endorse in 1980? Ted Kennedy.

From all accounts she's seems like a truly lovely and genuine person, but we all know that she is hesitant to step out into the spotlight. And I can't help but think that Ted might have encouraged her to so do now. If he did, he's a genius.

Why?

Because, while he is certainly a polarizing figure (especially in many states that will vote on Feb 50), she is not. Quite the opposite, in fact. Not only that, but she's a woman and a mother, and has written her endorsement from that perspective. Her endorsement strikes at the core of Hillary's support.

This endorsement is stunning on every level. Not only do we have a beautiful, glowing endorsement from Caroline, but we have some powerful politics from Ted as well. In my opinion, THIS is the fun part of politics.
