Hillary will be in the Senate to vote on FISA, make a statement
Then I spoke with Hillary, and she said she has assured her colleagues she will go back to the Senate if they need her vote. She though that we have already lost, alluding to the Judiciary version of the bill which was voted down on Friday. I urged her to speak out publicly and she said she intends to say something on Sunday.

4. I think that "be in the Senate to vote" was more of a political gambit
"while I campaign". It doesn't seem people here even remotely remember Fisa, Bush or anything. The enemy is - the Klintoonz

5. They can't take a break from slamming her...
that's never going to change. Even if I hadn't formed an opinion of Obama early on, the Obama supporters on this board would have pushed me far, far away from him.

What still pisses me off is, why the hell does Obama get a pass on every fucking thing?? WHY??

Unreal.

And when I say "Hillary supporters", I don't just mean those on DU. The live ones freak me out too. Big diamonds, wealthy clothes, retired. Hey, I live in Reno! What did I expect?

20. Obama gets a $2,305,000 house for $1,605,000. “Profit” to Obama = $925,000.
Obama lives in today. Obama lives in today. Obama lives in today. You were saying...

Obama received many contributions from REZKO and even more money from contributions raised by REZKO for all of Obama’s political campaigns (the failed

congressional race, the state senate race, the U.S. Senate race). But the biggest personal benefit Obama received from REZKO, that we know of, is the big house

Obama lives in today.

Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. Obama and Michelle owned a condominum at that time but now that Obama was a U.S. Senator they wanted to move

to a big house. Obama could not afford the big house he wanted. The house cost $2,305,000. However, in 2005 Obama bought the house he could not afford. Here is

how Obama bought a house he could not afford:

Step 1 - Obama talked the doctor selling the house into selling the house and the house’s side yard separately. There would be two separate buyers of the single

property - both purchasing the property on the same day.

Step 2 - Obama had previously asked his friend REZKO to buy the side yard of the house. REZKO was doing financially well at this point.

Step 3 - Obama purchased the land with the house on it. REZKO, probably to hide his involvement in this land deal and protect Obama, had his wife Rita purchase

the side yard. Both purchases of the single property closed on the same day.

Result - Obama got a $300,000 discount on the much more valuable property on which the house stood. REZKO’s wife, Rita, purchased the side yard for full price.

After the deal, Obama paid for mowing of his front lawn as well as REZKO’s yard.

The math is this: Obama gets a $300,000 discount and pays $1,605,000 for his house; REZKO’s wife buys the yard at full price for the undeveloped, less valuable side

yard for $625,000. Obama gets a $2,305,000 house for $1,605,000. “Profit” to Obama = $925,000.

Damn, we can't be more than one place at once. OP was posted what, five minutes before your post/assumption.

Three minute eggs is not the schedule the world runs on. Ditto DU.

I am happy to say it is good of Hillary to go vote on this important issue. And sad that she thought we had already lost.

They should ALL be out in front on this issue.

Not sending Dodd out there to do all the heavy lifting.

Kerist!

21. My take FWIW.
We are at a very important crossroads now and our future is at stake. We have two Dem Senators running to lead the country into the next 4 years. They both have a golden opportunity to stand up and show their skills over the next few days regarding the FISA bill. I for one will be watching this very carefully as it should tell us some important things about them.

28. In a sense you did,
however whether or not their vote "matters" I believe their presence also matters a great deal. Think of the RW using this as a talking point. How can they be trusted to run the country when the don't even show up for an important vote..blah,blah,blah. Also, will they support and take part in a filibuster if necessary, if not why? We'll know this week I guess.

30. "...she said she has assured her colleagues she will go back to the Senate...
... if they need her vote".

This is what the candidates said last time when Dodd went back to filibuster, but none of them actually showed.

This is one of my biggest gripes about the candidates during this campaign -- they didn't go back to support Dodd when after they said they would. Their votes or filibustering might not have changed the outcome, but I want someone to FIGHT for what's right, like Dodd was/is willing to do.

What better coverage could this issue AND the candidates get than getting up to help Dodd filibuster if it's needed?

From what I'd read on DU, I thought that both O and Clinton would be returning. I thought maybe when they didn't participate before, their supporters gave them an earful. But after reading the above statement, I'm not sure if it isn't more of the "of course I'll support him -- just not on the Senate floor."

I know that O will be in DC because of Kennedy's endorsement, and I believe Kennedy will be in the Senate for the proceedings, so conceivably O should be there, too. I hope I'm misunderstanding Hillary's statement and that she fully intends to participate in the Senate tomorrow.
