MSNBC this Sun AM: re: Giuliani and double standard...
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 08:32 AM by PCIntern
They're speaking about the fact that Rudy is fighting not to finish dead last (Ok, ahead of Ron Paul)...Alex Witt, the resident genius, has this faux-incredulity (and ruefulness)in her voice when she's talking about the fact that he used to be the LEADER NATIONALLY in the polls... wow...who coulda thunk that someone could raise 50 million dollars and then: sit out primary after primary, screw up just about everything, get buggy-eyed, be tied to scandal after scandal, and weird-out in general?

This leads me to ask two questions:

WTF happened to all the dough? I mean, where's the beef?

WTF is it about the media that they gave almost carte blanche to the Rudy! campaign but nary a mention of Edwards, who was getting a larger percentage of the votes in EACH primary THAN RUDY GOT IF YOU ADD ALL HIS PERCENTAGES FROM ALL THE PRIMARIES WHEREIN HIS NAME APPEARED ON THE BALLOT, TOGETHER? Well, not exactly, but not far off...really. I have MSNBC or CNN on all day and every time I'd walk into the office with the TV, there was another piece on Rudy, whether it's about his dopey campaign strategy, his tenure in NYC, 9/11, or a piece on his (now non-existent)hairpiece. He and Britney were dominating the sidebar pieces...didn't do him much good...too bad. :sarcasm:

P.S. Bonus Question: Is McCain's wife looking more anorexic than usual? She's getting pretty thin...

Edited for poor syntax..or sin tax!

1. I think it's because Rudy was the front runner
and has dropped to fourth at best. Edwards was never the front runner.

2. It's because we must never forget 9/11! 9/11! 9/11!

3. IMO, Rudy was the front-runner b/c
they MADE him the front-funner in the early going.

Reminds me of the old Top 40 radio format: the #1 song was the song played the most frequently.

It was wall-to-wall Rudy for the first year or so of this campaign, way back when...

4. Interesting take on the media and Rudy. He was certainly their darling mayor
for months, and the national polling bolstered their slavish attentions.

But behold, even as Brit Hume and Wolf Blitzer were licking the man's shoes, Rudy began to appear more and more often in public, and the public got a load of the guy and said, "No, thanks."

As several DUers observed, Giuliani's candidacy became increasingly unviable correspondent to the number of times he showed up at public functions. People evidently realized that this guy was less than truthful, less than appealing, and perhaps not the best choice for the Oval Office.

Plus, his wife tortures dogs.
