St. Louis Post-Dispatch Endorses Barack Obama

"Barack Obama: The new generation"

"In the back and forth between Clinton and Gingrich and in the elections of 2000 and 2004, I sometimes felt as if I were watching the psychodrama of the Baby Boom generation — a tale rooted in old grudges and revenge plots hatched on a handful of college campuses long ago — played out on the national stage.

Thus did Barack Obama, in his campaign book "The Audacity of Hope," touch on a fundamental problem in today's American politics: It's too much about yesterday's American politics. In too many ways, it's still about Vietnam. It's still about hardhats and hippies. It's about Watergate and Iran-contra and Whitewater. It's about the past.

Barack Obama is aware of yesterday, but he is about today and tomorrow and next year. In a strong field of Democratic presidential contenders, he offers the best hope of transforming the debate and moving on to what America can be in the 21st century."

In January of 1961, Ann Dunham Obama was six weeks pregnant with Barack Obama Sr.'s child when President Kennedy said at his inauguration that "the torch has been passed to a new generation." It's that time again."

1. Amazing they keep pouring in!
Comets don't come around that often. In January of 1961, Ann Dunham Obama was six weeks pregnant with Barack Obama Sr.'s child when President Kennedy said at his inauguration that "the torch has been passed to a new generation." It's that time again.

It's that time again.

It's that time again.

Let it be true ! Please!

2. Big.
All these newspaper endorsements can now be put in campaign advertisement to add a degree of respectability to the ad.

3. I'm picturing an ad
where the papers start trickling in, then just slam down at rapid speed. This is sweet

4. Great excerpts.
A lot of us are tired of watching the baby boomer psychodrama because it isn't getting us anywhere.

5. This baby boomer is disgusted with the current policies and for Obama's promise!
My generation isn't all stuck in the past. I was a fervent supporter of JFK. I see the same promise in Obama. For the true visionaries and yes "dreamers" in my generation we still can connect. There is also NAFTA, the Communications Bill of 1996 and the outsourcing overseas support that Hillary and Bill have favored over the years that have turned me against Hillary.

GObama!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo: :applause: :woohoo:

7. This babyboomer from SC has been behind Obama from DAY ONE..
My 32 year old son, who has watched his babyboomer mom get behind one cause after another over his lifetime, said to me a while back, "Mom, it looks like you've finally picked a winner." :)

8. LOL
It's pretty close at least.

Hillary has the New York Times, Salt Lake City Tribune, and the Orange County Register and Edwards has the Modesto Bee, but yeah, newspapers are coming on strong for Obama.

11. If not for the baby boomers
My black students wouldn't be in a classroom with my white ones. My black coworkers and I wouldn't be able to sit in a car with me, go to a restraunt with me, or vote. My black principal would likely, not be a principal. And I certainly wouldn't be in the TV range of Jesse Helms' old TV station fixing to have a gay straight alliance meeting. But that work isn't done. Not when my stats class is lily white while my lover level classes are 2/3, or more, black. Thank God for those people who still fight those fights.
