Delegate Selection Rules: As Long As John Keeps above the 15% Waterline...
... I say hang tight through the convention.

Why?

The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_%28United_States%29_presidential_primaries%2C_2008#Delegate_selection_rules">delegate selection rules ensure that he gets some of the delegates from each state in which he gets at least 15% of the vote.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Results_of_the_2008_Democratic_presidential_primaries">For those keeping track, his delegate count is respectable enough already that it could make the key difference on such things as platform planks, key nominations, etc.

So, I say: hang tight, John, and expect even more money, support, and timely news tips this quarter from those who believe in you.

2. Right . Our new slogan should be "America needs John Edwards."
Edwards is the unity candidate.

4. Amen! It's Like the War of the Roses
It's like the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_roses">War of the Roses.

Unity came when the Tudor claimant (descended from both camps) took over.

Edwards blends the hope and the experience, making him the best of both camps, in my book.

8. I have a question about the delegates at the convention.
Do the actual delegates for Edwards lets say try to influence other delegates to change votes or does the Edwards campaign use the # of delegates with the other two campaigns as a bargaining point. I ask, because I was wondering can delegates be influenced as well at the convention? How can we be sure that the Edwards delegates will stay firm. I know if it was any of us on DU that were delegates there would be no way to shake us, but I wonder how it all will work.

12. Oh hell!
My eyes started to glaze over just reading the table of contents. I am confident that John Edwards and his campaign would know how to maneuver the ins and outs of the rules/regulations. There is a lot of stuff there to think about. I'm still behind John all the way!

16. I Agree with his being in the race, though I think he puts the stink of death into Populism
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 10:30 AM by cryingshame
The way he markets it has been dreadful and damaging. His message is negative.

However, while I whole heartedly believe no one has the right to ask him to quit and condemn those attempts as obnoxious and hurtful, he does NOT BELONG ON THE TICKET.

1. His record is 180 degrees as his current platform.
2. He was unwilling to be a team player for Kerry.
3. He's got no Foreign Policy credibility necessary.
