Hello. I will be a Colorado caucus-goer on Feb. 5th.
I am undecided, because frankly I think either Clinton or Obama will be good for the party and for the country. Edwards, too.

So tell me, my DU friends. For whom should I caucus? I should note that Ron Paul tops the GOP polls for the state (the state in which the Libertarian party was founded, by the way.) That's how traditionally conservative this state has been... until recently.

I can tell you one thing, if you haven't picked up on this by my previous posts - you may notice that I'm not too impressed with puerile slams and namecalling. Tell me about your candidate's positions on health care and on education. Tell me what your candidate plans to do with the deficit, the economy, and for renewable energy.

I can look up all of this information on the candidate's websites, of course, but I'm asking here that you try to SELL me on your candidate. Tell me why your candidate is the ONE.

~I'm listening.~

PS: My husband is undecided, too.

1. Listen to Obama's Victory speech tonight.
Listen to Clinton's victory speech from NH.

Then decide.

2. I'm sorry, but that offers me little.
Those are canned speeches. I'd like to hear what the supporters of both candidates have to say.

3. I won't be caucusing
Because I'm not in state. I guess that means I won't have a say. I can't tell you who to vote for, I'm just pissed off I can't vote on my own.

4. I personally dislike caucus systems. I don't like the "critical mass" approach to choosing...
candidates. However, it is our system.

If this were a PRIMARY, you could vote absentee, couldn't you?

5. policy-wise, I don't see much difference
there are differences between the remaining candidates to be sure but compared to what the GOP field represents, all 3 remaining are decent.

The question I always come to is which one is likely going to be able to implement their agenda.
Edwards, for whatever reason, doesn't have a viable path to the nomination.
Clinton would inspire Republicans to go to the polls to vote against her and leave us with at best no bigger majority in Congress.
Obama seems to me the only one able to bring about a super majority in Congress and be able to fix the problem in DC without the obstructionists gumming up the works.

that's my $.02

7. On the congressional coattails issue...
the way I view the political landscape at the moment is that the GOP is so disenchanted that I don't believe we're going to see them come out much at all. In my CD, for instance, Marilyn Musgrave is in serious trouble against the best-funded Democratic challenger she has ever seen, Betsy Markey.

You make a good point that Obama would bring more Republicans under our tent, for 2008 at least, although I question the GOP's energy this time around, Clinton or not.

8. even if Obama doesn't bring republicans
into our tent it's better than the republicans Clinton will bring to the polls to vote against her.

I have a uncle, GOP-voting, fox-watching who is so unimpressed with the Republican field he has stated he may just not vote come November. I have no doubt though he'd bring himself to go vote if it meant he was voting against Hillary Clinton. And when he shows up to vote, he'll vote straight republican ticket and cancel out my vote to get rid of Elizabeth Dole. If he and the millions of other disenchanted republicans don't have a reason to vote in the General, we get the White House, a bigger majority in the House and Senate plus more state and local offices as well.

I envy you though, I don't get to vote until May. It will all be decided by then.

9. Well, I'd like to hear more about other areas of these candidates.
If anything, because I think we win regardless of who becomes our nominee. George Bush has been the Democratic Party's best friend for the last several years (unbeknownst to him and Karl Rove.)

I'd also like to hear from a Clinton supporter or two on the Congressional effect issue.
