Think about it; he'd be a good one (but then, so would Eliot Spitzer.)

1. That would be awesome.
It would set up Edwards for either a run for governor in NC (of course, if he wanted to run in 2008, he'd have to resign as attorney general to campaign, which means he'd be again leaving one seat to run for another) or another run for president.

That would be equally awesome as having him as Kerry's VP.

2. Edwards needs to be involved somehow
Since he's not going to be a Senator anymore.

3. I'd welcome it.
Edwards is a good guy, he deserves a place in the administration.

6. Edwards as AG? I dunno...
He deserves a place in the administration, certainly, but I am not sure about AG. I know that Edwards has had some great litigation experience, but I think that I would prefer someone with more of a legal administration background, someone who would know what they were doing in the DoJ.

Spitzer would be a superb choice...but then again I am biased, being a New Yorker. I think any State AG would make a good choice.

There are plenty of well qualified Senators who would make a good attorney general as well, though. I'll give Edwards that.

P.S.:
I was checking out Ashcrofts Biography...it's a shame they don't mention that he lost his Senate seat to a dead guy!

4. Edwards is not a law and order lawyer
I don't see him being AG, but a position like Solicitor General might be a remote possibility.

5. Edwards not AG material
He's a CIVIL trial lawyer. Elliot Spitzer, now, there's a good choice! Solicitor General is too obscure a post to befit a rising star in the party like Edwards.

7. Chief Justice Edwards
As a civil rights lawyer I am salivating of reading a civil rights opinion from Chief Justice John Edwards - a young chief justice with 35 years ahead of him. Go John!
