25. What a feel-good story for the Gov! Politicians lose their home state
all the time. And after they have stopped campaigning? Gephardt received 2% of the vote in Missouri. Lieberman currently at 3% in Connecticut. What a show of appreciation by the people from the great state of Vermont. It makes me even prouder that my first son was conceived in Vermont!

What a lovely thank you for Dr. Dean, wining in his own state in spite of
no longer being an official candidate.

Thank you to the Dean supporters. You changed the world, though in
ways that may not be obvious. If Bush loses in Nov. it will be in no small part
because of the fire that the Dean campaign lit under the Democratic party.

35. Governor Dean issued the following statement tonight...
"I want to thank the great people of Vermont tonight who overwhelmingly endorsed our campaign for change. This win means so much to me. Two years ago, I entered this race to talk about health care, children, and to demand change and leadership in our Party. This Party and this country still needs change, and tonight you have helped further that process.

"While I ran for president I often said that America would be a better place if it was more like Vermont. I still firmly believe that to be true: We still need health care for all children, affordable prescription drugs for seniors, and equal rights for all Americans.

"Throughout this campaign, I have appreciated the strong support from the people of Vermont. Our campaign owes a huge debt to the hundreds of Vermonters who worked at our headquarters--answering phones, stuffing mailings, and responding to emails--as well as to all of those who canvassed on our behalf in New Hampshire and elsewhere. I will never forget the work and the heart that you put into our campaign. Thank you.

"I look forward to continuing the energy and the campaign for change that our movement began. We will be announcing more details of that effort on March 18th."

Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 09:26 PM by madfloridian
I think a lot of the credit for Vermont goes to Eugene Hedlund at www.truthandhope.org and his ads.

Dean supporters contributed to him, but he organized and put together this group in almost no time at all.

Eugene was/is a Republican. He was a devout Republican, too. He just became hopeless. He is going to keep this group going. Here is the movie Vermonters saw thanks to him and those of us who donated.

http://homepage.mac.com/stevehernandez /

If you can watch this without tears, then I commend you.

54. I'm hoping I'll be able to vote for
Howard Dean in ten days when Kansas has its caucuses. I still don't understand the mad rush to Kerry. He's the same-old same-old, friend of big business and the status quo. I keep on being told that if he's president at least we won't have Ashcroft as AG, and he'll probably appoint some Supreme Court justices, but I wonder.

I wonder if he'll really move this country back to the left, if he'll actually stand up to the corporate interests that have been controlling this country in recent years. If he'll fight for universal health care, for paring the military back, for no more U.S. sponsored coups.

I hope.

71. Salud!
Our band wrote the song "Howard Dean Trust." It is on our CD "Ingenues & Kleptocrats." We have decided to donate all our portion of proceeds to the organization soon to be unveiled by Governor Dean. If you wish to catch a free sample of the song and the CD go to www.cdbaby.com/tallinndefiant.
The lyrics to "Howard Dean Trust" are at www.garageband.com/artist/tallinnndefiant
