47. Ok.
Obama on Health care:

Obama's Plan to Cover Uninsured Americans: Obama will make available a new national health plan to all Americans, including the self-employed and small businesses, to buy affordable health coverage that is similar to the plan available to members of Congress. The Obama plan will have the following features:
Guaranteed eligibility. No American will be turned away from any insurance plan because of illness or pre-existing conditions.
Comprehensive benefits. The benefit package will be similar to that offered through Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), the plan members of Congress have. The plan will cover all essential medical services, including preventive, maternity and mental health care.
Affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
Subsidies. Individuals and families who do not qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP but still need financial assistance will receive an income-related federal subsidy to buy into the new public plan or purchase a private health care plan.
Simplified paperwork and reined in health costs.
Easy enrollment. The new public plan will be simple to enroll in and provide ready access to coverage.
Portability and choice. Participants in the new public plan and the National Health Insurance Exchange (see below) will be able to move from job to job without changing or jeopardizing their health care coverage.
Quality and efficiency. Participating insurance companies in the new public program will be required to report data to ensure that standards for quality, health information technology and administration are being met.
----
No UHC plan? BS.

Next; Gay marriage.

Barack Obama in the United States Senate: Every two years the Human Rights Campaign, the largest national gay and lesbian organization, issues a scorecard for members of the Senate based on their sponsorship and voting on key issues of importance to gay and lesbian citizens. Barack Obama scored 89 out of 100% in the 2006 scorecard.
http://lesbianlife.about.com/od/lesbianactivism/p/BarackObama.htm
-------------
No gay marriage? BS

Next; no quick withdraw from Iraq

Hillary Clinton also refused to promise to withdraw by 2013; Edwards is the only one who has.

Anything else?

51. You failed to answer any of those points.
How is his health care plan universal?

Have you read any of his statements on gay marriage? Obama does not endorse gay marriage (despite the fact that his church, the UCC, does). He believes "marriage" is between a man and a woman.

How is his matching of Hillary's stance on Iraq evidence of "change?" In fact, he more or less matches Hillary on all these major issues, except that his health care plan is not universal. Hillary's is not that great either, but still--Barack is supposed to represent "change," and all I see is a moderate platform.

55. ...
Gay Marriage;

"Clinton opposes gay marriage but supports civil unions between members of the same sex. During her husband's administration, she supported the Defense of Marriage Act, a law preventing the federal recognition of same-sex marriage."
http://lesbianlife.about.com/od/lesbianactivism/p/HillaryClinton.htm

"Obama said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized."

He supports civil unions, as does Clinton.
-----------
As for Iraq, I agree with you. Neither are all that different, but are definitely better then what we have now.
-------
As for health care,
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/

You need to read the whole thing. His plan is outlined completely. I'd certainly like Edwards' plan more, but it's extremely doubtful he'll win.

Obama isn't my first choice, but I'll take him over Clinton any day of the week.

PS. I'm very tired, so excuse any grammatical errors I missed.

I could go all sour grapey, too, because my candidate didn't do as well as I'd hoped; but I didn't. I'm giving Obama credit for his victory instead of trying to piss on his supporters' campfire. I just wish people would stop snarking at a legitimate (and spectacular) win just because their candidate didn't win.

Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 09:38 PM by jpgray
Disdain for the Clintons has ruled the day here many times, for example. I assume you weighed in on those threads, deploring their disgusting qualities? :D

Maybe it's because I don't support either Clinton or Obama that I don't see much that is uniquely disgusting to this thread.
