And I agree, DK has a lot of support in CA where I am. There are probably more Greens in my area than anything, but the Dems are Kucinich supporters.

19. As in the voters are going home because they can't vote
They head of the registrar can't even tell the poll workers how to take in provisional ballots. The problems I've heard about are in Loretta Sanchez's district. It's the most liberal district in Orange County. Orange County went completely computerized, except for absentee ballots, last year.

6. "The Guy James Show" official endorsement
I support Dennis Kucinich because I believe he embodies the
ideals of the real Democratic Party. His positions on the war,
trade agreements, health care and the economy must be adopted
into the Democratic platform so this nation can once again
be the bright light that all nations look to for guidance in
these areas.

Our Party must adopt Congressman Kucinich's positions because
our citizens deserve no less than our best efforts to restore
prosperity, security, trust and good health care to this
great nation. Dennis Kucinich is a man of honor and integrity
and I am proud to support his candidacy for President of The
United States.

Respectfully,

Guy James www.theguyjamesshow.com

10. I voted for Kucinich. I had NO INTENTION to do so
as I was driving to the polls. It was rather surreal. I was going to vote for Edwards (I met Kerry last summer, and found him 'political', but nice). Anyway, I wanted to vote Edwards because I was sure Kerry would win, and I really like what Edwards has to say. But as I looked at the (BBV) screen, I realized that I really liked what Kucinich had to say better. If I was gonna cast a vote for someone who I knew wouldn't win, but whose IDEAS I really liked - why not go with Kucinich!!!

My kids were with me and started saying loudly (9+7) 'who is Kuchiniz' (phonetic display). THey knew I was voting for Edwards because I have been discussing our political system with them. I got a few strange looks.

By the way, I'm in Los Altos, CA aka Silicon Valley

then voted on the grounds that the evidence was for a convergence of views between you and the candidate. Hey, this is so EXCITING. :grouphug:

However when it comes to the general election, I will vote for the DEM. Whoever it is. The choice will be between Satan and not Satan. I will not contemplate any other votes.
I really like Kucinich, and I also like Nader. Neither will get my vote unless they are the Dem nominee. It would be GREAT if it were Kucinich!!

67. I decided on Kucinich today as well!
Factors:

a. Was going to vote for Edwards. In reviewing his issues, I noted he says we should make Iraq a beacon on Democracy in the Arab world. I do not think that such a thing is a realistic or laudable effort.

b. In reviewing Kucinich's issues an hour before the caucus, the fact that I agree with him 99.9% of the time resonated in a different way with me: I would like to see his positions well represented in Boston. The primary is to define the platform as well as pick someone to dethrone Bush. (Kucinich won by a large margin in my precinct).

c. I saw this photo:

43. DK's ideas and vision are a strong positive influence
Leading canidates who used to disagree with Dennis about the Iraq invasions and the so-called "Patriot Acts" have now come around to positions close to where Dennis was all along. Sometimes they make the unimpressive excuse that President Bush fooled them--well, I guess that may go over with the millions of people who have the uncomfortable feeling that Bush fooled them too. Once the people realize that a "leader" like Bush or Nixon built their whole political carreer on the saying "there's a sucker born every minute", they can turn on him real fast.

Dennis's has constructive ideas about jobs and trade and much more. That kind of substance is needed for the Democratic platform. It's needed to show people that the Democratic Party really is different from the Republican party, and we have solutions.

45. I voted at 7am this morning, PST.
I was ready when the polls opened. We used "inkavote," which works like a punch card, except that it doesn't punch anything. It just makes a little ink mark.

A great way to start the day. Can I vote for him again tomorrow? And the next day? And the next?

I feel like I've done my job. I've donated, written letters, made phone calls, "met up," and, finally, cast my vote. I'll donate and call up until the convention, but I'm so glad to have finally cast my vote.

How many more states to go after today?

63. I'm a delegate to the county convention, from there...
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 11:51 PM by scarletwoman
I'll have to be elected to be a delegate to the state convention.

But I'm pretty much a party "insider" up here in our rural area, I'm almost certain to go on to the state convention. And I'm telling everyone that my goal is to make it all the way to the national convention. Send me your positive thoughts! :D

61. Kucinich in Ohio
Cuyahoga county went 25% for Kucinich (the highest I can see in the state), I'm one of those votes! I'm glad he has stayed in this whole thing.

Was hoping against hope he would win here in Ohio today but he gave a good showing none-the-less.

71. Just came back from Minnesota4Kucinich official party
My precinct (liberals, but mostly rich liberals) went 20.9% for Dennis, out of an astoundingly unexpected precinct turnout of 246 (up from 43 in 2002).

Before the voting began, one insider type stood up and said, "Remember that you need 15% to get delegates, so your vote is unlikely to count unless you vote for one of the frontrunners."

I raised my hand and said, "We should vote for the one we want. We shouldn't assume that we can read other voters' minds."

I volunteered to be a teller, so I missed out on the delegate selection, which got kind of raucous with all those people, but I'm an alternate.

Afterwards, I went to the volunteers' party, full of people all wearing the same T shirt. As I asked around, I couldn't find anyone who reported less than 15% in their precinct, and Dennis actually WON a couple of precincts in Minneapolis and tied Kerry for first in a largely African-American precinct. :bounce:

Just goes to show you what an enthusiastic grassroots effort can do.

I bet we would have done better if more people had known about Edwards before the caucuses started.

78. He did break 15% in one CA county -- Mendicino.
Yeah, I am disappointed too. I thought he would get a few delegates. People here in Oregon were doing some GOTV telephoning to help. And some of us were doing the same with Ohio voters. In the end, Ohio only produced 2 delegates, CA none.

In CA he did break 15% in ONE county (Mendicino), but only barely. It looks like it was not enough to break the 15% needed for the relevant Congressional District.

He was close in several counties: Santa Cruz 14%, San Francisco 13%, Humboldt 12%, Siskiyou 12%, Marin 11%, Nevada 11%

I wish they reported data by CD as well as by County!

79. Delegates from Tompkins Co.
Not sure of the percentages because the local paper is NOT giving full information, but in Tompkins Co., Kucinich has 1293 votes (Kerry: 3173, Edwards: 1574). In the city of Ithaca, he came in second with 519 (vs. Kerry 828 and Edwards 438).

That is definitely over the 15 percent threshold...

82. Goodbye to super Tuesday, and
best wishes to the states who still haven't voted...you still get to vote, right? Your votes still count?

I'll invest my time and $$ into votes for Dennis until the last state has voted, but I think I'm going to leave GD 2004 behind. I don't think my time here really helps Dennis, or helps me!

I'll leave you with this:

For doing so well here in MN! Minnesotans for Kucinich appreciate it.
(But what's up with the CA returns from San Fran, Marin, Santa Cruz? I had hoped for double digits at least.)

Good luck campaigning in FL, TX, and IL.

84. DK ROCKS!!!!
I am happy to announce that I am a Kucinich Delegate to my MN State Senate District 60 Convention in early April!

The DK party (not covered by the news media, BTW) was quite a celebration! Most of our active supporters got elected delegates to the next level, and a good number of them are sure to go on to State from there.

DK won many precincts in Minneapolis and St. Paul (as well as some of the first-tier suburbs) while being marginalized and ignored by the media. Many of us put forward planks for the platform for single-payer universal health care, full funding for education pre-k through college, and a stop to US imperialism abroad.

We may not get our first choice as nominee, but we're STILL here and we're TAKING OVER THE PARTY!

To me, yesterday was not an ending: it was a new beginning. It reinforced my faith in democracy, and proved that a scrappy group of dedicated amateur volunteers can STILL make its voice heard and make a difference!

CONGRATS TO ALL DK SUPPORTERS AND FELLOW DELEGATES FROM MN-- SEE YOU AT THE STATE CONVENTION IN DULUTH!!!!!!!

87. I will follow Dennis to the ends of the Earth!
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 02:23 PM by libragirl73
I have been so inspired by Dennis Kucinich
over these last few months, that it really
doesn't even matter if he's elected or not--
--he is my leader, and I'm proud of his
courage to fight for what's right, not just
what happens to be popular.

I will never understand why or how the American
people turned their backs on such an amazing
candidate. I'll never understand how the
majority of voters failed to see the honesty
and integrity of this man who offered to try
and fight for us.

The only people who would NOT have benefited from
a Kucinich presidency are the people that
run America's corporations--they would have
had targets on their backs, and one by one,
Dennis would have shut them down.

I will continue to follow Dennis's career for
the rest of my life--he's not getting away
from his supporters THAT easily!!
We are all completely dedicated to him,
and that's because WE alone know the difference between
right from wrong, light from dark, near from far,
truth from lies, and hope from fear.

It's not over 'til it's over, and I will do
absolutely everything I can for him and his
campaign until HE says it's over.
After all, this has been his strategy all along--
--he calculated his money to last while all the
other candidates would be forced to drop out,
leaving Dennis Kucinich and the front runner...
...so you just never know!

And, who knows? He is only 57. (and a fellow Libra) ;)
In 2008 he will only be 61...maybe the people
of this country will wake up and become as tired
of the lies as all of us DK supporters already are!!
