Many of the 24 Super Tuesday states have heavy Native American populations
and most Natives are Democrats. Any stats on which candidate they are backing?

1. I live in AZ
and I back Obama.

But NY and CA are the two big states... and while there are a number of Native Americans in both, they wouldn't be considered as "heavy" or a deciding faction.

2. I was thinking about that just the other day...
I'm glad you brought this up. I'll sit back and hear what others have to share.

3. We heard about the unions in Nevada. Any stats on how the Natives voted there?
There are 24 tribes in Nevada and must have made some sort of impact on the outcome - at least I hope so.

5. I looked the other day and did not find
anything to that representation. I need to look deeper into the Tribal newspapers/articles later on...........

6. Surprisingly, they are less than 2% of the population there.

I tried to find some caucus info on them, but haven't had much luck.

An interesting article on their voter-registration efforts: http://www.indiancountry.com/content.cfm?id=1096416333

4. Not sure who they're backing, but here's some info on where they could be influential.

There are only six states in the country where the Native American population is higher than 5% of the total population: Alaska, South Dakota, Arizona, Montana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Of those, only Alaska is higher than 10%.

SD and MT aren't Super Tuesday states, but the other four are.

On a side note, the Native American population in SD was a factor in the Thune/Johnson Senate race a few years ago. The Republicans threw a fit (and declared fraud) when Johnson received 90% of the vote in some NA areas.

Johnson won that election by 524 votes.

7. The only thing I've seen recently was
a discussion at DU about Obamas anti-gamling views. I dont have any links, but there was recent discussion that it might hurt him with voters in casino areas.
