“That’s beneath the dignity of a former president”
And former Clinton administration Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich:

I write this more out of sadness than anger. Bill Clinton’s ill-tempered and ill-founded attacks on Barack Obama are doing no credit to the former President, his legacy, or his wife’s campaign. Nor are they helping the Democratic party. While it may be that all is fair in love, war, and politics, it’s not fair – indeed, it’s demeaning – for a former President to say things that are patently untrue (such as Obama’s anti-war position is a “fairy tale”) or to insinuate that Obama is injecting race into the race when the former President is himself doing it…

From Senator Claire McCaskill and Governor Janet Napolitano:

“I do not begrudge Bill Clinton’s working for his wife, but the one thing I would say is really important to President Clinton to think about right now, because of the larger megaphone he has as a former president, he really needs to be careful with the truth.”

McCaskill went on to say that Clinton “tried to manipulate the facts in a way that is patently unfair,” “flat wrong,” and “demeaning.” She did not elaborate.

Gov. Janet Napolitano (D-AZ) urged Clinton to remember that the Democrats would have to unify around a candidate “before Denver,” she said, referring to the party’s nomination convention, and to choose his words carefully.

From Senator Pat Leahy:

“That’s beneath the dignity of a former president,” Leahy told reporters, adding: “He is not helping anyone, and certainly not helping the Democratic Party.”

(h/t)

NYT endorsed Hillary:

As strongly as we back her candidacy, we urge Mrs. Clinton to take the lead in changing the tone of the campaign. It is not good for the country, the Democratic Party or for Mrs. Clinton, who is often tagged as divisive, in part because of bitter feeling about her husband’s administration and the so-called permanent campaign. (Indeed, Bill Clinton’s overheated comments are feeding those resentments, and could do long-term damage to her candidacy if he continues this way.)

5. Not only Reich, but Rahm Emanuel called out Bill as well.
If Rahm "DLC" Emanuel is telling Bill to knock it off...

3. What I find stunning is that he apparently doesn't care. I guess
the Clintons think this too shall pass and no one will remember how cavalierly they've treated our system of democracy, however many warts it has.

8. I voted for Bill. But I don't think he's helping Hillary's candidacy
not that I care about her candidacy, but her campaign seems more and more to be run by tweedle dum and tweedle dummer.
its a disgrace to the democratic party and an embarrassment.

12. I saw a little bit of an event with Bill Clinton on c-span last night, and he looked very old.
He was speaking with reasonable clarity - not as much as I remember from when he was prez - and seemed like he was trying to put on a good face. But he seemed to me tired and old and perhaps a little emotionally wrung out. I could imagine someone watching him and thinking this is a guy who's started around the bend.

Maybe it does wear on one after a while ... even one such as Bill.

OTOH, I couldn't stand to watch for more than a few minutes, so maybe it was just a fleeting thing.

It did remind me of how much I wished for a president that I could stand to listen to again...and how there's a good possibility that neither party will offer that choice this year. Sigh.

9. To say, "I never had sex with that woman."
However, for a husband to campaign his heart off for his wife is admirable!
Just like when she stuck up for her husband it admirable...even if so many hold that against her. I admire that strength and support for one another.
We wouldn't have such a high divorce rate if more people agreed with that philosophy.

What do you expect a husband to do? Just because he's an x-president...sit on the side lines and keep his mouth closed tightly like Elizabeth and Michele? :sarcasm: Hardly! He's the best fighter there is and he's fighting! (That's how he won the presidency for 2 terms for some ungrateful Democrats). Can't blame him and good for him. That's the kind of fighter we need near the white house...not the spineless critters we have around now. Go Billary Go!

PS I personally think it was gallant of him to take on the rule of attacker at the expense of his roll as statesman, x-president and tradition. No coward could do that! Maybe he's paying back his wife for sticking up for him when he was down. Again, That speaks of good character even though............................. you know.

Sometimes it's nice to give someone the benefit of the doubt...how about it?
