Poll question: Are the Clintons now runing a Stealth Campaign in Florida
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 04:06 PM by Perky
By press releases which say she will stand up for Florida voters? Is it a direct appeal?

1. Not 'campaigning' in FL doesn't mean you can't TALK about FL
It's not like a "You're DEAD to me!!!" thing. FL isn't cut off from the internet, after all.

Campaigning means running ads on media and making personal appearances. Not talking about the state from outside the state.

2. Stealth? How much free publicity did she get for this story?
While I don't doubt that everyone able to is wooing Florida voters on the sly, Clinton's announcement doesn't necessarily mean that she's been courting voters. She gets to screw Dean and chum up to Florida while the MSM gives her all the free press. Total win for her campaign.

5. It may be a win for her campaign, but her hands are dirty
This really stinks -- the Clintons use the party when it's convenient, and then when the party suggests they need to play by the rules, they thumb their noses at the party (and its chairman). We need a third party (since the Clintons seem determined to make the Democratic Party their own fiefdom).

10. I don't disagree.
But this is more a case of Brutus putting his hands to Caesar's blood rather than Lady Macbeth washing them clean.

We don't need a third party. We need progressives to "organize, organize, organize" and keep the Democratic party true to its grassroots.

4. I hope she is as overt as possible about voting rights. Gives me hope that
if GOP pulls some tricks in November, she won't pull a "2 Johns" on me.
I am now considering voting for her - for this reason.

Obama Wrong About D.N.C. Claim

January 22, 2008 12:00 PM

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., inaccurately claimed Tuesday that the Democratic National Committee has defended his decision to launch a national cable buy reaching a substantial number of homes in Florida, a state which violated D.N.C. rules by scheduling its contest before Feb. 5.

"The DNC has consistently said that we have not broken that pledge," said Obama.

Obama's claim is not true.

"The DNC has not weighed in on the pledge because it was a pledge with the state party chairs from the four early states, not the DNC," DNC spokeswoman Stacie Paxton told ABC News.

While the Obama campaign has not been defended by the D.N.C., his campaign was told by Carol Fowler, the chairwoman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, that she did not consider a national cable buy to be in violation of the pledge made to South Carolina.

The Democratic Party chairs in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada have not weighed in on Obama's national cable buy. Having already held their contests, the state party chairs in those three early states are deferring to the South Carolina Democratic Party.

Florida is holding its Democratic and Republican primaries on Feb. 29. In order to punish Florida for violating D.N.C. rules, no delegates will be awarded in the Democratic contest.
