P.S. For me, after it seemed certain that Gore, Kerry, and Mark Warner were out of the running in the primaries, I bought into the electability meme, and Senator Clinton became my "I can live with it" choice. After spending time with thoughtful friends, family members, and a DUer or two on here, and after following up on some suggested research topics, I went from skeptic of, to strong supporter of, John Edwards. In the process, I went from "I can live with it" to "America can't afford it" in my views of my prior choice. But that's me. What about you?

Very much like the reaction to Anita Hill's testimony made me mad. At that point, the bullshit became visibly obvious.

5. Several reasons.

I never was in love with any of the three main contenders, but felt like Hillary had the best chance of winning the GE. That wasn't enough to win me over, however. The disgusting way both Obama and Edwards, along with the rabid media, piled onto her after Iowa was disgusting. So initially she became the one I disliked the least. I finally came completely around and took a stand that she was my candidate.

Now that I'm on her team I truly support her and believe that she will be a wonderful president. I learned a lot more about her that is incredibly impressive.

She has been through almost every attack imaginable.

I think that she is the most electable Dem candidate, I like her, and feel her qualities would make for a good and effective president.

I probably see about 60% of her actions, ideas and qualities as positive and matching my own ideas of the best Dem President, but this is clearly more than for any other candidate.

the fact is, I think shes the best choice to lead this party. She gets good reviews from pretty much everyone she works with. I think the main reason there has been some opposition to her in the party is due to the negative propoganda that has been built around her and fears she cannot overcome it. But I do not believe that.

"Electability" is a total copout. It's an attempt to mind-read what the perceived electorate wants. Worse yet, it panders to the whole "focus group" mentality of governing by opinion polls instead of by convictions.

FDR didn't run this country by focus groups. LBJ didn't use opinion polls when he signed into law the Civil Rights Act.

I was more commenting on the fact that most people supporting her (according to this poll) was because she was "electable".

That is a VERY dangerous thing at this point in the race.

It says that people don't like her platform, but are only supporting her because they think she can win.

But what if she wins, and she doesn't represent the things you support? How have you won? Or have you won at all?

And my fear is that Clinton will turn out the Republican base in a way that none of the current Republican candidates actually can. Even though many of them may not like McCain or Romney or Huckabee, if we nominate Clinton they will come out just to vote against her.

I'm still a New Yorker so I'm used to her as my Senator triangulating and caving into the GOP, so I don't see why she would be any different as president.

She's the toughest candidate we've got right now, the most tireless fighter. Bill Clinton is the only Dem to take the WH in over 2 decades, because he was the only one tough enough and smart enough to do it.

That’s a difficult question..But for starters I am amazed of her deep knowledge on a huge variety of areas and seem to be on top on the important issues facing the nation (like the economy) and being elected as a NY senator, a highly republican city twice, tells me that the conventional wisdom is wrong. Remember she was a republican in her youth, and have a track record of working with republicans to find solutions.

I think she knows that for solving the problems, she has to find bipartisan solutions

But the one issue that is critical is having been hit with so much “troubles” in her life, still managing to cope with it all in a sound fashion. Both on the psychological, emotional, and work related...she has overcome everything that has been sent her way. I do think she have a unique ability to handle crises when they occur, and thus will be a wonderful commander in chief.

And right now the country is facing enormous challenges, and i am confident she wil manage them..thats why I support her.
Not because of her gender, not because of her husband, but because she is the most skilled politicians out there, and do know how to work with people with opposite views finding solutions.

She knows the processes and people in the Senate,
White House, state governments, leading other countries,
NGO's, non-profits and business.
Frankly we are going to need someone who knows
how to get up in the morning with a plan to
get us out of the mess Bush Inc. put us in.

We don't need someone who needs on the job training
again, or has surrogates do his work for him,
like we've had for the last 7 years.

She isn't Bill and this country has real
problems to deal with. We want concrete
solutions and actions, not just pretty words
