Bill Clinton praises Karl Rove
Do we need to know more ?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/14/AR2007081401722.html

It's amazing to me that DUers would support a candidate that would praise Karl Rove..,.It just blows my fucking mind.

3. And they are not ashamed of it...
Clinton's campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle, seems to agree with that assessment, having effectively vowed to run her operation much as Rove did his two successful national campaigns. "She expresses admiration for the way George W. Bush's campaign team controlled its message, and, given her druthers, would run this race no differently," Michelle Cottle writes this month in New York magazine. " 'We are a very disciplined group, and I am very proud of it,' she says with a defiant edge."

They are proud to run their campaign like Rove would. Praise of Rove doesn't belong on the DU

21. She said more than that
"vowed to run her operation much as Rove did his two successful national campaigns."

"would run this race no differently"

That's troubling. And after what we've been seeing happen in SC, it's apparent that the campaign strategy is a mud-slinging Rove type one anyway.

24. Sure that's what it means...
:eyes:

At least that's what Nicolle Wallace thinks. The former Bush White House communications director, who worked closely with Rove, said that Clinton "has almost operationalized the whole idea of turning your weakness into strength, message discipline that is almost pathological -- she does not get off message for any reason -- and never skipping an opportunity to exploit her opponent's weaknesses."

Message discipline. Never missing an opportunity to take a shot.

That is how the Clintons have run their respective campaigns.

4. Heavens to Murgatroyd!
"Just days after the November 2004 election, Bill Clinton pulled Rove aside at the dedication of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Arkansas. "Hey, you did a marvelous job, it was just marvelous what you did," Clinton told Rove, according to the book "The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008," by John F. Harris and Mark Halperin. "I want to get you down to the library. I want to talk politics with you. You just did an incredible job, and I'd like to really get together with you and I think we could have a great conversation.""

12. I agree...
I'm hesitant to full-on blast it since they were all secondary quotes, not direct quotes (I only scanned...didn't see direct quotes).

But, if there are direct quotes from ANYONE'S campaign manager praising Rove...damn...that would be just pitiful.

I'll say what I said about the Obama-Reagan flap: I'd rather our candidates not say anything about "those" people if they aren't going to diss them. Admiration coupled with any of those names - grudging or not - is a HUGE turn-off for me.

The END does not justify the MEANS.

This educated LIBERAL votes NO to these campaign tactics, and to anyone who wants to legitimize them.
It is on the same level with the NeoCons and their idiot supporters who justified the mass murder of innocent Iraqis....

20. Maybe Bill is saying he endorses, "the math".
If so, in effect, even if HRC is sliding in the polls, it wouldn't matter, because the Clintons might employ the kind of folks that like to do "the math". You talk about truly disgusting!!! It does not make me feel better to introduce that thought, but anytime someone says they admire Rove, they are saying that they are for stolen elections cuz that's what Rove orchestrated!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/18/bill-clinton-bush-sr-wil_n_77243.html

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

33. Machiavelli
You can see it in certain politicians' eyes, hear it in their voice, watch them brutalize their opponents on the campaign trail, listen to them speak without saying anything... from before she began her presidential run it's been obvious that she only cares about winning.

She's cold and calculating... no matter how many times she throws out that fake laugh, or talks about how much she loves shoes and chocolate I don't trust her. Something very primitive in me screams "snake liar" when I see her. Always has. I got the same feeling with our current corporatist pig in chief.

I don't trust her and neither does about 50% of the country. Hell neither does at least 50% of the dem party. The only reason she's doing well in the primaries is because the people that can't stand her are split up between the other candidates. No one elicits anywhere near as much fear and dislike as HRC.

Bring on the flames but I trust my gut on detecting shadiness. Doesn't always detect it but when I smell danger I listen to my feeling.

What Bill said is no different than a coach telling a coach from the opposing team that he's gotta give it up to him in terms of how he managed to win when their team had the better players and the better strategy. He's not saying he's glad Bush won.
