Does The Prospect of 28 Years of Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton Allow The GOP To Become Party of Change?
It's hard to believe that after 8 years of Bush and nearly as many of GOP control in Congress, that they could somehow represent themselves as the fresh face. But I don't find it the least bit difficult to imagine that they would run hard against the Bush-Clinton dynasty.

Think about it - because I'm sure the voters would hear about it in a general election - if Hillary is elected, two families will have ruled America for more than a quarter century. In 2000, I thought the prospect of Gore vs. Bush was too much of a dynasty issue (thank God Gore found his voice and became his own man).

The GOP candidate will be McCain or Romney as the nominee. Can you imagine the old-timer "maverick" running as a fresh face? I'm sure the thought has crossed Bloomberg's mind.

I really believe that "dynasty" will become the phrase of 2008 if the Clintons become the face of the Democratic party in November.

4. THE MEME! THE MEME!
Vote for Obama because he has a different name! Vote for Obama because you're bored!

A name change is all the difference he has to offer.

5. Do you Really Think The Clintons Will Only Bring Back Their Names?
Do you think their massive lobbyist connections have just evaporated? Why do you think progressives were so hungry for Nader? The Clintons took away our moral upper hand during the 90s and made us the slightly-better corporate party. Now it is impossible to even compete without raising a zillion dollars.

I like Clinton a hell of alot better than Bush, but lets not pretend that it was days of wine and roses.

7. Exactly why Bloomberg will run if HRC is the nominee. He's made this abundantly clear.

10. Back to the '90s, or forward with the self-styled GOP maverick outsider? Yeah, I think
they've got a chance at nullifying the Democratic "change" narrative.

11. this conflating of the Bush and Clinton names as a "dynasty"
is just an incredibly weak argument.

Is that really all you've got? 'Cause I think it makes you look foolish. Anyone with half a brain can see that it's nonsense, and I know you've got more than half a brain, Dr.

12. I agree it's silly in that Bush does not equal Clinton
So to hear politically knowledgeable progressives invoking that theme is tiresome. However, a lot of regular folks out there do see it that way. I hear it all the time. Rightly or wrongly, that mindset is out there and they will use it in the general race if Clinton is the nominee. Not that it can't be beaten but it will be an issue.
