Pastor Got $1.5 Million in Clinton Earmarks Before Endorsement
By Fred Lucas

January 24, 2008

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) secured more than $1 million in federal funding last year for a Harlem-based non-profit whose leader gave her presidential campaign a major endorsement last weekend.

Clinton -- who is aggressively competing for the black vote with her chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) -- touted the endorsement of Rev. Calvin O. Butts III, a prominent black leader and pastor of one of the oldest black churches in America, the Abyssinian Baptist Church of Harlem.

An analysis by the government watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste found that of all the presidential candidates serving in Congress, Clinton had the most earmarks.

1. Butts endorsed Pataki and Giuliani (and one other Rep, I forget who)
Some in the black community consider him a sell-out, as in, he can be bought, per news reports.

PS Check Alice Huffman, head of California NAACP who personally endorsed Clinton - she has taken money from tobacco, pharmeuticals and telecom companies through her consulting company and then used her NAACP position to support their campaigns (with tobacco, it was opposing a higher tobacco tax, which theh national NAACP supported). It leads me to suspect she was bought and paid for, too, though of course I don't know.

3. Yes she probably did get some money for them and
This is what those evil people do

The $555-billion FY 2008 omnibus spending bill approved last month by Congress included 11 appropriations bills with almost 1,000 earmarks. Clinton teamed with senior New York Sen. Charles Schumer and New York Rep. Charles Rangel, both Democrats, to provide three earmarks for the Abyssinian Development Corporation (ADC).

The ADC is a separate non-profit community development organization chaired by Butts that focuses on increasing quality housing, delivering social services, and boosting economic and educational opportunities in Harlem.

She is evil i tell you.

5. Yes, earmarks ARE evil
William Proxmire would be SO proud of our government today.

Hillary certainly isn't alone... but just because you are in the pig pen doesn't mean you have to wallow in the mud.

4. If you check, you'll find that most Dem earmarks are for extremely worthy orgs.
It's the Repuke ones that soured the whole earmark debate.
