Disaster when the race and gender barriers are broken

All hell breaks loose. Clinton and Obama attack with the gloves off, each side trying to subtly play the race or gender card. Their respective fans take sides and mimic them, hurling irrational insults the other way. Maybe the United States really isn't ready for a woman or black president, not because of the candidates, but because their supporters are so polarizing, prepared to foist exaggerations and lies on each other, prepared to stop looking beyond the race and gender of their candidate, prepared to damage the Democratic Party's chances in November rather than try to find common ground (and there is certainly plenty of it). Rove must be laughing his ass off.

You might recall some of the dirty fighting the Kerry campaign did against Dean before you think this has anything to do with race or gender.

For Kerry to come out now and claim the Clinton's are fighting dirty is comical to me.
