Obama ran hard against voting to fund the war if elected. What "changed"?
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 05:46 AM by jackson_dem
Obama offered many "hope" that he would bring "change" as he ran from the left in the Senate primary in 2003. He vowed to vote against the funding the war. Why did he break this most solemn of promises? He has never explained this because until Monday night he had no record and therefore never had an opportunity to break a promise ( ;) from the media). Which promises he is running on now will he break? :scared:

2. Obama press release. Where were this concerns when he won and had a vote?
Obama challenged the Congress to 'stand up to the misplaced priorities of this Administration' by delaying the $87 billion for Iraq until the President provides a specific plan and timetable for ending the U.S. occupation, justifies each and every dollar to ensure it is not going to reward Bush political friends and contributors, and provides 'investment in our own schools, health care, economic development and job creation that is at least comparable' to what is going to Iraq. 'It's not just Iraq that needs rebuilding. It's America, too,' Obama said.

6. You ask if Edwards had black friends in elementary school but don't know your candidate's record?

7. I think it's from here:
Sen. Obama Promised To Oppose Iraq War Funding, Then Voted For Every Iraq War Funding Bill

1/5/2008 11:59:29 PM

As a Senate candidate in November 2003, Sen. Obama said he would have 'unequivocally' voted against war funding because it was the only way to oppose Bush on Iraq:

"Just this week, when I was asked, would I have voted for the $87 billion dollars, I said 'no.' I said no unequivocally because, at a certain point, we have to say no to George Bush. If we keep on getting steamrolled, we are not going to stand a chance."

But until he ran for president, Sen. Obama supported every funding bill for Iraq. <2005 Vote # 117, HR1268, 5/10/05; 2005 Vote # 326, S1042, 11/15/05; 2006 Vote # 112, HR4939, 5/4/06; 2006 Vote # 239; 2006 Vote # 186, S2766, 6/22/06, HR5631, 9/7/06>

4. LOL!
yap, yap, yap. go little attack dog, go!

Obama's voting record on Iraq is exactly the same as Ted Kennedy's and several other staunch IW opponents. He's voted for every scrap of legislation mandating getting out of Iraq. Yes, he ultimately voted to fund it, like the others, and I wish he and they hadn't, but I understand that Senate voting often requires a complex number of factors to be considered.

5. That is not true
He voted against Kerry's bill to mandate getting us out of Iraq in 2006. That was before he began running for the White House. http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=5161

What does Ted Kennedy have to do with Obama running hard against funding the war in a primary and then flip flopping after being elected?

Attacks lol. Obama and Obamites have been attacking the record of Hillary and Edwards for a year. It is funny how both go bananas when questions are raised about Obama's record, which didn't exist until Monday night.
