1. Live by polls, and die by polls......
The fascination with polls is frightening here at DU!

2. Obama seems to be unelectable
As people have learned that Obama has a record his numbers have consistently slid downwards in match ups with Republicans. If he is the nominee how bad will they be by November? This is only the tip of the iceberg. The country didn't hear about Rezko or his present votes until a year after he began running for president. What is left to come out?

3. I disagree. I think the polls show that the GE will be competitive no matter who we run.
We're a long way out from Nov.

4. Assuming they nominate McCain
If they are smart enough to do that it will be competitive and Obama is the weakest of the three candidates. If they nominate Romney or Huckabee it would take the worst run campaign ever for us to lose. Then the question would be whether we could win by enough to have a mandate for change.

8. I think McCain's their strongest candidate as well
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 06:18 AM by LeftCoast
My personal belief is that he'll not do as well in a real head-to-head matchup as the early polls are showing, but after 2004 I got out of the predicting business.

Edited to add: For clarification my earlier disagreement was with your statement that Obama was unelectable. I agree with the rest of your assessment.

6. Nah.
Nobody's putting the Republicans back into power. Not this miserable year.

9. That's my gut feeling too
I just hope we're right. We need to have enough of a majority so no electoral monkey-business can take it away from us again.

5. Wow
A poll showing Hillary beating McCain. Imagine that. I assume that we will no longer hear about that one poll, cited here ten thousand times, where only Edwards beat McCrone, or whatever it found. New numbers!

7. Looks like it's shaping up to be another 8 years of the Clintons
Why am I not excited about that?
