Is America ready for a Black President? Or a female one?
How the fuck would I know?

And even if I thought I did, would it change anyone's mind if I said so, one way or another?

I can only say one thing for sure: I am ready for either one. America may or may not be, but I am.

That's the only contribution I'm qualified to make to the debate, and I'll make that contribution with my vote.

1. America is ready and has been ready for years for both...
The question is whether America wants a candidate who is an idealist or a candidate whose entire being is summed up by the word Realpolitik

2. I think america is ready for a white female president, I'm just not convinced
they are ready for a black president. To prove my point all you have to do is look at the make up of the Senate today. There's like 16 white female senators compared to only one black senator. There's been numerous, I think over 30 white female governors but only two blacks since reconstruction. Lets not kid ourselves white supremacy runs deep in this country even among the liberals. That's why Hillary resorted to race baiting when her back was against the wall because she knows she can't loose when she goes that route.

4. I would say....
....that all depends on how racist and sexist America is currently....and whether or not the corporate interest will be served by having an African-American male or a white female as president....

....my limited view of America from the bottom, does not give me hope for either....

5. Americas not ready for a prez with hyper-consciousness of gender/race
The person who's going to come out of this the winner will be the one who most successfully stays above this fray, IMHO.

7. The bigger question is, is America ready for a real change
a Populist President ... someone willing to bring about radical change in the Beltway - we've not seen it since FDR and Edwards is the only one proposing a seismic shift in the status quo.

But, are average Americans courageous enough to actually fight the status quo -- not just nudge it a little?

9. Populist, as in Edwards? You bet. I'd be happy to vote for him, as well.
