I'm thinking that John Edwards is the only candidate running who can unite the party

or at least DU. I've seen so many posts of people who will not vote for Obama or Clinton or will vote for them but not do a thing to help them in terms of contributing to a Obama or Clinton election against the GOP. Some vocal Obama supporters won't vote for Clinton because of her vote for the war and how they believe the Clinton's are injecting race in the campaign. Some vocal Clinton supporters won't support Obama because they think he won't denounce homophobes and because they believe Obama is injecting race into the campaign.

I just hope that John Edwards, who was the calm presence in last night's debate, and isn't continually ignored by the media can make a come-back in South Carolina. We need a candidate that all DUers and all Democrats can unite around enthusiastically going into November. I think he talks about things all Dems can unite behind the need for universal health care and an end to poverty in the USA.

(I have to wonder though what would happen if (as could very well happen) it is a Clinton/Obama ticket or Obama/Clinton ticket? will those who say they could never vote for Clinton or Obama then turn on their candidate for going with the other?)
