4. Obama has to run against both Bill and Hillary.
And when he wins in South Carolina this weekend, they will blame it on the media - again.

7. but hillary has to run against 2 obama's
bill was president but he is still her husband. spouses will speak up but its up to the candidates to stay on message. i think it would have been unwise if mrs clinton had said michelle obama was being misleading. ignore the spouses, stay on message.

9. Yes, it was insulting when he said he didn't know who he was running against.
It implied Hillary was just Bill's stand in. His puppet. Me, I don't appreciate that.

10. bill clinton is a former president who is
defiling himself with his lies and smears. Do spouses have a right to lie?

5. Bill Clinton should remember he is a candidate's spouse
And not a candidate. He should support his wife in her efforts, not run himself against her opponents. That would help the situation.

8. Are you blaming Bill for his press coverage?
Because that's what it sounds like.

13. No, I am blaming Bill for forgetting he is the symbolic leader of the Democratic Party
As a spouse he should talk up Hillary's record and attributes and policies. He should not attack another Democratic candidate on her behalf. She is capable of fighting her own battles and as the candidate that is her proper role. He is no ordinary surrogate. He is the last Democratic President of the United States. He has responsibilities to the party and all Democrats. He's got to use restraint, although I am not sure he is capable of it at this point.

17. WAS - past tense! He is no longer the symbolic leader of anything except of the Clinton household!
And maybe he doesn't wear the pants there either!

20. Until there is another sitting Democratic president, he is, I believe
Not that he behaves as if he is the symbolic leader of the Democratic Party.

19. Bill is frustrated because the media
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 06:40 PM by Tactical Progressive
simply isn't taking Obama to task about anything. He's been running a smearing, race-baiting campaign and he's getting a free ride. From his history, which you would think would be important given his notable lack of Washington experience, to his flimsy IWR pretenses, to his low-road campaign. Obama, like Publicans and anybody running against Democrats, and especially the Clintons, doesn't need teflon when it comes to media scrutiny.

Bill knows he'll get the coverage, and he's been right. In pointing out Obama's hypocrisy over the IWR he both made the point and suffered Obama's racebaiting ugliness, which made another point in showing a glimpse of what Obama is really like, which is neither high-road nor bringing people together. Of course the media still didn't cover that, but it was noticed even without their coverage.

As long as the mainstream media is going to coddle and protect Obama, I think Bill should continue doing what he is doing.
