The American People Should Not Have to Work So Hard
The American People Should Not Have to Work So Hard
January 22nd, 2008 @ 1:39 pm

“The American people should not have to work so hard to get leaders who will actually help them...” — Hillary Clinton

Stepping aside from the clash during last night’s debate, I’ve been thinking about the statement above from Hillary Clinton in her closing argument in the debate. American’s are struggling in this ever tumbling economy just to get by. Hillary Clinton gets that. The economy is “the number one issue,” in her campaign because she gets that the economy “is where we live.”

And so, as she said last night “the American people should not have to work so hard to get leaders who will actually help them.” That statement alone resonates with the struggling Americans who can’t pay their bills, who are losing their homes, who can’t afford health care insurance, whose small businesses are experiencing loss instead of growth, who can’t afford to send their kids to college… the list goes on and Hillary Clinton shows voters time and time again that she’s a strong leader who cares about the American people and understands how dire the economic outlook is.

2. I love that statement. It's so very, very sad and so true.
If the corporate media wasn't so entangled in our political system - elections and beyond - it would be much easier for us.

I know politics has always been a rough game, but can't a process evolve...in a good way, for cryin' out loud?

5. It really struck me last night
when I heard her say that. Others may not agree but that statement is one of those buzz phrases that resonates.

4. A very thoughtful quote...
As long as she's able to answer questions as to the direction, because it's just normal, like breathing, for politicians to avoid such questions, I'll believe that quote at face value or better.

I want to believe her. Hell, I want to believe everybody. But when you're alone in this world, only two things matter:

1. Faith
2. Loyalty to those who run the place. Because there is nobody else when the day is said and done.

about the people will demand stuff and it'll sorta bubble up from the ground up, which was more malarkey than Great Aunt Bridgit o'Donohue could spill after a dozen beers.

He's witless.

9. It was in her closing statement
Who has time to march in the streets to demand change? Not me.

10. she zapped BO w/ it during the debate, as well. I saw it. Perhaps she
extemporaneously added that to her closing statement. If so, good on her.

11. I guess I missed that time
It's a good soundbyte. The type of stuff that grabs, like her "I am listening."
