1199 SEIU Endorses John Kerry
Kerry will protect American Workers, Bring Jobs Back to New York

March  01,  2004

For Immediate Release
NEW YORK, NY –

SEIU Local Chapter 1199, New York’s Health and Human Service Union, announced today the endorsement of John Kerry for President in the 2004 election.

"After numerous meetings with Senator Kerry, we have decided that he is far and away the best candidate to beat President Bush in the general election in November" stated Dennis Rivera.   "Senator Kerry has a tremendous record on the issue of healthcare, including a comprehensive plan to guarantee access to affordable healthcare for working Americans.  1199 SEIU will be proud to put all of our resources into ensuring that John Kerry becomes the Democratic nominee and President of the United States," added Rivera.

1199 SEIU represents over 250,000 workers throughout New York State, representing hospital and nursing home, home care, drugstore, community health center and human and legal services, professional, technical, and clerical workers and registered nurses. 1199 is the largest local in the state of New York.

"I'm honored that the working men and women of 1199 SEIU are standing with me in my campaign to bring back jobs and prosperity to America," said John Kerry.  "I can't wait to lead an army of Purple People to take back the White House for workers and their rights.  And when I get there, I will wake up every day ready to fight for America's working families."

“This election is critical for the working families of New York and 1199 is committed to electing John Kerry as President so that this country can see some real change in the next four years,” concluded Rivera.

1. Yeah, so did (NYSCD 22) Hinchey
If Edwards wants Dean voters, he should have got an endorsement. Those cheese Dean supporters that backed Edwards should have never dragged Dean's name into their endorsement.
