Listen, I apologize
I apologize if I offened anyone personally. I know people personally that are voting for Hillary Clinton and they are people that are important in my life.

What I was expressing was the shock which is born of a total frustration of wanting so badly this country to be the best it can be. I know that it is my perspective that Senator Obama can change this country in a way that I dont think Hillary can. I want this country to evolve. I want this world to evolve. I want something different. Senator Obama is such a far cry from anything this country has ever presented to the world. I do believe that it would transform the view of this country in way that Senator Clinton would not and can not.

I wont go into all that but I want you to understand that I know obviously that everyone has different opinions. The frustration is born from wanting so much more. It was not intended as a personal attack against Hillary supporters or DU or its members.

2. Liberals can disagree and still be liberals
I am badly hoping these two candidates will lower the volume a bit so that they don't make each other uelectable in the fall.

3. We wanted change
after Nixon, but settled with Carter. We needed an alternative to Raygun and bet on Mondale.

I want to feel good about our principles, but learned that effective action is moderated by political expediency. C'est la vie.

And I certainly don't want to insult anyone personally. It's just hard to see others as I once was ... it was a disappointing era.

4. The way you feel about Hillary, that's how I feel about Obama. Hillary = Obama with anti-gay bigotry
thrown in for free with Obama

6. Change to WHAT?
I really want specifics on that, because sometimes it sounds to me that when Obama says "change", he means "compromise".

I understand your frustration though, I really do. I was at my book club meeting the other night. The four of us who follow politics the closest all wanted Edwards and we were essentially laughed at for our pains, and told that he was a loser by someone who wants Obama and has never, since I've known her, which is at least 12 years, followed politics at all. She shut me down! And her crony, also an Obama supporter, told me that the story about Edwards' case where a child had her intestines sucked out by a swimming pool drain was an urban legend (it's not). I venture to guess I'm more frustrated than you are!

12. I imagine that you feel much like I did in 1992
and I was one of the last Jerry Brown supporters when it was just him and Bill left. I was so pissed at the media. So pissed that people were saying he couldnt win STILL, after everyone else had dropped out. So pissed about hearing, "Well I like him best but he cant win".
I ended up writing him in.

inspire me to look at my own responses.

If you don't mind, I join you in apologizing to anyone I've hurt as well.
I want nothing more than to connect with and build others up, rather than reject and demean.
I'm sorry.

peace~

and thank you-

11. What you believe will make this country
What you believe will make this country the best it can be is not necessarily what others may think-- or even necessarily what it would actually take.

When a person tells me not what I am supposed to do, but how stupid he thinks I am for doing what I believe is right then I can only assume that person is either a) the smartest person in the entire world with the wisdom of Solomon in his heart or b) that he's simply another intolerant political hack with no room for the opinions of others.

I really hope you're the Smartest Guy in the World.

13. We all wish for Saviors (and winning lottery tickets too)... truth is there aren't any
-- only tough, toiling, honest, hard working citizens. There are no short cuts. As they says in sports -- its 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration. Hilary may not have a silver tongue for prepared speeches but of the contenders, she's clearly the smartest, toughest, hardest working candidate in the entire field. She's taken more knocks that all of them combined and she's still ticking like your favourite watch. People trust her to get the job done.

And let's face it -- America is a mess at home and abroad, and only formidable strength and competence in leadership will change the course. You don't have to like Hillary -- but one would be hard pressed to say they didn't respect her.

15. You're right about Hillary. Obama has completely turned me
off recently. I don't dislike Edwards, but I think Hillary is far more qualified, and better equipped to step in and run with it from the get go.

14. I just don't have the time
to keep apologizing. Three months ago I was voting for Hillary. One month ago it was Edwards with Obama a close second. Then, after seeing a couple of debates, I became a solid Obama supporter, with my wife pledged to Hillary. Then, after seeing the three at the SC Statehouse yesterday and listening to the debate last night, my wife and I are both in Edwards camp again. I've never been this torn before; I usually have my pick made before the campaign begins. Don't think there's another change coming before Saturday.
