Clinton, Edwards hold private post-debate meeting
MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) — What were they talking about?

Hillary Clinton and John Edwards met privately backstage following a very contentious Democratic presidential debate in this coastal city, sources with both campaigns confirm to CNN.

The meeting took place in the Edwards campaign green room.

One of the sources said the meeting happened by chance and the conversation consisted of light chatter. The source added that Clinton did jokingly take a jab at Edwards about his beating up on her during the debate. In fact, the real fireworks were between Clinton and Barack Obama.

6. Edwards will need to make a deal with the winner to have a political future.
He doesn't have a job to go back to.

10. They need him more than he needs them.
They both know that.

I'm surprised you think otherwise.

12. You're right.
They do need him. They have been parroting him since Iowa.

But, he is essentially unemployed. He would have no platform to push his message without a *job*.

WE NEED him to get into a policy-shaping position in November.

7. Will Edwards supporters turn to Hillary - again? For a while?
There was a 24h Clinton love on this board - until edwards lost Nevada. Will this spur another one?

11. Clinton/Edwards. I think that has been the DLC plan from the get go.
Edwards sure has helped Clinton more than hurt her during the primary season.

14. Edwards is making a mistake. The Clintonian DLC will BE The Executive Branch and it's NOT
the least bit "populist."

15. Edwards doesn't stand for anything.
He's been changing his positions constantly since the last time he won an election in 1998. He's repeatedly apologizing for his constant bad judgment.

19. He seems to have helped out Clinton, more than hurt her.
Last night after the debate, they said Edwards went up to Obama in the NH debate at break time and told him that he needed to take Hillary on (and Obama did just that after the break). Amazing how the two guys beating up on Hillary played right into Bill Clinton's spin of Hillary the poor old woman (I can't make her male, can't make her younger...) and her good buddy Murdoch's unflattering press which was sure to rally women to come out and support Hillary (which they did). Edwards getting Obama to attack Hillary couldn't have worked any better if he and the Clinton campaign had planned it.
