So, Hillary went to a superior grad school about capitalism working with Sam Walton. Hillary met MLK too.

Oh please. Many of us don't even shop at WalMart because for several reasons. And Hillary has served on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS. Enough Said.

34. Sam Walton is a genuine American hero
I don't even know if he was a democrat. But he sure is making it
possible for lower income people to maintain a good standard of
living with competitive pricing of goods.

I get my medications from wal-mart for $4 for 30 days supply. Heck
at that price I don't even bother filing with insurance.

38. First off
Walton was long dead before the $4 policy went into effect.

Second, Walton's autobiography is full of passages explaining why he doesn't believe "Associates" need a union. You ready for this? He thinks they don't need a union because every manager has an "open door" policy.

Never mind the use of Chinese slave labor and the support for Red China's repressive regime and military that Walmart has provided.

You want a genuine American hero? Look at anyone who has made an attempt to unionize Walmart workers. They're threatened every way you can imagine.

Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 10:12 PM by dugggy
And as far as I know unions are perfectly legal. All it takes
is a vote by the workers. I know...because I helped getting union
voted in to my company.

But regardless of the union situation, millions of Americans are
benefitting everyday with Wal-Mart prices. They also save on gasoline
since Wal-Mart sells almost everything including groceries.

7. I am sitting and waiting
In a moment or two some Hillary supporeer will be typing in "Hillary never sat on the Board of directors at WalMart"

"or if she did, she was a woman, and so she couldn't speak out or she wouldn't have become one of the first women to sit on a BOD in Arkansas. She had to remain silent."

"and/or WalMart never raped small town America until
a) before Hillary was on the Board
b) after Hillary was on the board."

the Hillary WalMart thing just must never have happened.

14. And they are reveling about the thousands of women (ignoring the men of course) who work at Walmart.
Work that is for non-union wages, given 35 hours a week so they cannot be full-time, yadayada. And Hillary was on the Board of Directors. And she was noticeably silent about standing up for union rights when she was on the board, by the way!

22. My twenty year old son (at the time)
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 10:28 PM by truedelphi
Shamed me out of WalMart.
But now almost all of the stores everywhere carry things from China. I was with a friend and we went into an upscale place, as he won't buy anything from China, and boy were we ever in there a while.

My favorite stores are Yard sales and thrift stores. I end up feeling very guilty over the things I get.

The cassette tape playing while I type is a fifty cent tape I got at a local hospice thrift shop.
Lush pan flute music with some saxophones and a piano in the background. Never heard of the artist before, but it's so good I'm getting chills.

26. Yes, it's ironic that many of Obama's constituants are guaranteed to be Wal-Mart shoppers.
The statement was completely assinine, but the voters don't care about what he's saying by that.

23. I shop at Wal-Mart every week, and I don't see why Senator Clinton should be ashamed
of being on the board, or being a Wal-Mart lawyer, or whatever else she's done for the company.

Unfortunately, many people in this country don't have the luxury of shopping anywhere else. Why should I waste my money on the other large corporate grocery store when they charge at least a dollar more for cereal/cheese/produce/etc.?

28. Low wages, Low benefits, ALWAYS!
A lot of people have to shop or work at Wal-Mart. That doesn't make their lousy employee treatment right. Let's not forget the 24 hour emergency line for managers in the event of hearing the word "union" uttered.

30. Because you're externalizing your costs and making your neighbors pay the difference
Why should I waste my money on the other large corporate grocery store when they charge at least a dollar more for cereal/cheese/produce/etc.?

Because Wal-Mart forces most of its actual costs onto
A) the developing world
B) the town the store is in

So that $1 difference comes half from the 10-year-old kid in Indonesia who made the shirt for half a cent, and half from the town that now has to spend a much higher amount on social services because Wal-Mart keeps its workers at sub-poverty wages. So, the town has to raise taxes. Not to mention the fact that Wal-Mart uses predatory fake-low prices at first to shut down other businesses, which really harms the town's economy as a whole.

Congratulations: you save $1 on the cereal and make your neighbors pay for it in their taxes. Great racked you've got going there.

35. Largest employer...is BIG a value for Democrats? Since when is WalMart a good thing?
I know many Democrats who don't shop at WalMart because of its regressive policies about just about everything, including labor. It has destroyed small businesses in its wake. Don't get me started.

But since Hillary was on the Board of DIrectors, I guess the Hillary Herd has to get transformed. Now WalMart is a good thing. Heck, it is the largest friggin employer of non-union workers on the planet!
