Can you answer this question regarding the Repub candidates?
One of my friends and I were discussing the upcoming election and he asked me a question I couldn't answer. "Who is the Bush money machine backing?" It got me thinking and the truth is that I don't know. I think the main reason that I don't know is that they are too slick and don't want us to know, yet. They may give some clues, but are they phony? You know you can't believe anything that comes out of their collective mouths. So who better to ask this question to than the members of DU.
"Who is the Bush money machine backing?"

they'll pull behind the candidate most able to raise money. That would be Romney.

7. It is my understanding that the players in the Bush Machine
Politicos etc backed McCain . For example you will note M. McKinnon
now with McCain.

8. Romney is a major corporate hack
My money is on Romney as their pick. They don't want McCain because he may actually try to do something to fight climate change if elected. (one of the few subjects he's not awful on) They don't want Huckabee because he talks about poor people as if they might even matter a bit. They'd probably be ok with Giuliani, except that their religious-right stooges probably wouldn't vote for him

9. The party is genuinely split between McCain and Romney
All Bush cares about is that he be "vindicated" on Iraq, so he supports McCain as likeliest to never, ever leave Iraq.

Most of the Republican partisan infrastructure backs Romney by default because they hate John McCain.

So that's why we don't see an unambiguous move from the big boys... they are still divided.

10. I agree with your assement on McCain...

11. HOW MORE OBVIOUS IS THAT ONE?
ROMNEY!

Ask yourself, who best simulates DUMBYA's puppet manner and will be a face for hire candidate? He is the Stepford Republican.

12. I agree that...
he is a "Stepford Republican", but it isn't that obvious to me that he is their candidate of choice.
