Obama says they are going to directly confront Bill Clinton about the lies he continues to tell
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 03:30 PM by TeamJordan23
From Drudge:

EXCLUSIVE: OBAMA RIPS INTO BILL CLINTON MONDAY DURING ABC INTERVIEW WITH 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA' HOST ROBIN ROBERTS... SAYS HE FEELS LIKE HE RUNNING AGAINST BOTH CLINTONS... Bill 'has taken his advocacy on behalf of his wife to a level that I think is pretty troubling. He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts. Whether it's about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas. This has become a habit and one of the things that we're gonnna have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he's making statements that are not factually accurate'

68. They really slimed her after she won in NH
They claimed that she rigged the polls.
Kucinich financed a recount and HRC picked up votes!

Now they're sliming her with claims that she strong armed people
in NV.

But here is the real truth - told b a guy who is not a supporter:

Matt Stoller at Openleft is not a Clinton fan, and this is what he says about the Nevada caucuses from the scene itself:

This is a picture I took yesterday of Gerald McEntee, the head of the powerful AFSCME labor union, at the closing Clinton rally. The sign he's holding says 'Culinary Workers for Clinton', and it's a dig at the leaders of the Culinary Workers, who endorsed Obama and from what I hear from good sources used incredibly heavy handed tactics to encourage their members to caucus for Obama.

At the caucus I was at, two AFSCME organizers were actually out-organizing the Culinary Workers among their own members, a sign of just how badly the Obama labor camp played their hand. Not only did the union not deliver their members, but it's probable that the aggressive tactics, which included things like explaining to members they should caucus for Obama or not show up at all, backfired and drove up support for Clinton. Remember, Clinton tried to get the strip caucuses canceled in a lawsuit, but ended up winning the strip casinos anyway, including New York New York.

So, lets talk about the Obama campaign's voter intimidation and suppression - if you aren't going to vote for Obama, don't show up? I know the Obama supporters will say, no, that was the union, not Obama - well, Obama has been very quiet about what his supporters in the leadership of the CUA did, running that nasty 527 ad (and all of a sudden Obama is silent about 527's, unlike his attacks on John Edwards in Iowa), and their efforts to intimidate and suppress Clinton voters. These holier than thou, we are better and smarter than you, tactics of division by the Obama campaign and its supporters is bad for our party. I'll vote for the guy if he is the nominee, but I'm going to focus on other races in my state, not the presidential, if this poltiics of division does not stop.

why would they alienate the very group of people (as some are convinced they played the race card) they would need not only in the nomination process but most D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y in the general election?

Answer that please.

41. Working with the right wing talking point I see.
The media has gone nuts trying to put Bill in a cage by reading from the script that "Bill is damaging his own legacy".

Let me help you with the Clinton (unpublished) points:
Bill does not give a shit about his "legacy".
He will not step back from the fight - in fact he will turn it up.
He will not let the media define his role in this election.
He will not let Obama's whining define his role in this election.

Get it.

That is exactly what Obama should do if he thinks it is called for. Good for him if he is open and clear about what he feels Bill Clinton should be called out on. This is a primary campaign. This is what Obama should do and it is best that he does so directly.

This is what I mean about Obama being so immature. Is his wife sitting on the sidelines, is Elizabeth Edwards doing that? No, he just doesn't like Bill campaigning because Bill is THE most effective campaigner the Dems have ever had. Listen to this guy whine. Does he ever stop whining? Bill Clinton will face down anyone, and Hillary as well. They aren't spineless dems. There are things I don't like about them, but they aren't spineless like so many dems in congress (and yes, I am thinking of the wussy who votes "present" more than any other senator I can think of -- Barrack Obama). Anyone who defends this crap is living in Republican dishonest dreamworld and needs to wake up. This is the same crap that is killing our country. I am more fearful of a Clinton presidency than ever. It is obvious it will just be a nice looking interlude, pacifying the left while underneath the same tactics and raping and pillaging continues! I am sick of it!

http://www.newsweek.com/id/96385

"Prominent Democrats are upset with the aggressive role that Bill Clinton is playing in the 2008 campaign, a role they believe is inappropriate for a former president and the titular head of the Democratic Party. In recent weeks, Sen. Edward Kennedy and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, both currently neutral in the Democratic contest, have told their old friend heatedly on the phone that he needs to change his tone and stop attacking Sen. Barack Obama, according to two sources familiar with the conversations who asked for anonymity because of their sensitive nature. "

You say Obama is going to confront Bill Clinton about "the" lies (presuming there are any). Then Obama just does a routine "Bill's not telling the truth, but I won't need to say what parts I think aren't true." IOW, Obama may attack Bill, but I don't see any sign he will confront him.

71. Bullshit!
We, her supporters, always knew that Bill would play a large part in her campaign. How foolish it would have been for her to leave him out of it. Sour grapes all around because he is a formidable campaigner, plus being a former President. We all knew that going in. Yes, she's lucky. But, luck plays a part in all of their campaigns. Wouldn't you say that John is lucky to have Elizabeth? Or Obama, Michelle. She was absolutely charming when she corrected her mispronunciation of Nevada. I really, really, like her. People, all of our candidates work with what they have. This is to be admired, not criticized.

79. Let's see, Elizabeth, Michelle..
And the last Democratic Leader of the Free World! Sounds like a fair election to me

When he was going to campaign for her, I was actually fine with that. He is now campaigning against her opponent. He is taking over the candidate's role. He has no business doing that and Hillary has no business allowing it. She can run on her own, but she's chosen not to. It's a sad thing to see.

woman. I'd jump over ten Hillarys to get to one Michele.

She has twice as many as he does, some 220 to 120 so far. You Obama people really need to pay more attention, and get less desperate sounding. Yikes.

Superdelegates don't count since they're not committed and can change at any time. I'm surprised you didn't know that. Yikes.

55. I thought Bill's going into the casinos to directly promote HC to the
people who had come to caucus was inappropriate - talk about intimidation. And then to complain that the union was intimidating was over the top. To give talks to rallies and the like is fine - but to be right in the face of those trying to make a decision was wrong for an ex-president.

74. It was way over my line too
I honestly think I will like a Hillary Clinton Presidency much more than Bill Clinton's one should that come to pass. Much like many marriages, I prefer one spouse to the other. It is tricky having an ex-President as your husband no doubt. But I am more comfortable now than I was before the campaign started that Hillary will ultimtely be the one running the show in the White House when the talking and the buck stops.

Bill loves campaigning, and he is very popular still with rank and file Democrats, so it is hard to keep him out of the spotlight, and sometimes it would be foolish for Hillary to try given his overall popularity with Democratic primary voters. Plus Bill feels his legacy is being attacked by other Democrats and he becomes defensive. It is a delicate dance, and an unprecedented one in American politics to be sure, that we are watching.

But I know more about Hillary Clinton now than I did six months ago, and I have a better appreciation for how gifted and formidable a person she really is in her own right.

94. Hillary lost me for good when I listened to her speech AIPAC a while back.
She really came across as itching to go to war with Iran. She doesn't seem like someone who would be a fair broker between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Of course, she may just have been pandering.

84. But it was okay when Obama and his wife did the same thing
.... you know what seems obvious to me? You Obama folks just hate, hate, hate, as in can't deal with the fact that Hillary has Bill at her disposable and he is the most formidable campaigner the Dem party has seen in decades. And honestly, though I would prefer Edwards, she is a hell of a campaigner herself. She may have learned it from Bill, but she has been a damn apt pupil. She is nearly as skillful as he is.

Obama? Not so much. The inexperience is really showing, and I pray he doesn't get the nod because the rethugs will eat him for lunch, worse than they did Kerry and Gore. Barrack needs to learn there is no crying in politics. He looks like a 3rd grader complaining about how mean the 6 graders are on the playground. This aint grade school, and you aren't on the playground. Grow up, Barrack.

95. I am not an Obama supporter particularly. And I don't think Obama and Michelle
are out of place urging people face to face to vote for him. But Bill is an EX-PRESIDENT, not just Hillary's spouse -- and because of that his STATUS is way higher -- and intimidating. BTW, out of the top three -- I am also for Edwards.

We need change and what is happening in the campaigns is a symptom of the problem. Edwards is the only one who has stayed above the fray and the only one I will trust with my future at this point.

87. It's whining to say it......
If he has the cajones, why doesn't he just do it? Announcing it IS whining. Problem is he doesn't even have the cajones to vote on a stinking bill, let alone fight either Clinton. What's with all the "present" votes? That right there tells me he's a major wuss. God help the Dem party of they nominate him.

90. Yeah, right...
So is it also whining for Hillary to say she's been attacked by RWers for years and will fight back? Stating a fact and saying he's not going to let it go anymore is not whining. His "present" votes were for strategic reasons. God help the Dem. party if they nominate Hillary.

Is that why he's too afraid to vote yea or nay on a bill and votes present instead? If he really had cajones he wouldn't feel the need to ANNOUNCE he is going after Bill Clinton. He would just do it. Obama is a whiner.

Let that hillbilly charlatan go around telling everyone he was the first black president during Martin Luther King's holiday week and see if anyone agrees with him!!

The Pity Strategy can only work so far before it becomes perceived whining. I think Obama is once again at the whining point. It doesn't look very presidential.
