Other than Gore, who do you think is the best Dem not running for President who could have run?

Who would have been qualified and electable at the same time, maybe even as much as, or more so, than anyone we have running right now?

In retrospect, is there someone who fits the bill?

Kerry wouldn't have run in 2004 and would have in 2008, when I think he would have been better positioned to win the general.

Other than that, I would have like to have seen how a Warner campaign would have played out....most of the folks I have my eye on are a little green for 2008.

8. Brian Schweitzer, Governor of Montana

Check him out some time. He ran as a populist progressive in one of the reddest states in the country and won a large victory. He is plain spoken and avoids the nuance that gets east coast Democrats into so much trouble with the party base.

He represents what should be the party's future. We've had enough of its past.

I think he agreed not to run, upon becoming the DNC head. But I still believe he would make a great president. Had he won in 2004, he would have taken this country off of its current path toward fascism. The corporate "powers that be" knew that, when they killed his campaign.
