1. Bad tie choice. But I welcome his support for Obama, if it happens.

23. This one?
http://www.newsweek.com/id/96385

When the former president called Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat gave Clinton an earful, telling him that he bore some blame for the injection of race into the contest. In any event, both Hillary and Obama made peace on the race issue at the Las Vegas debate. The Clinton camp now fears that Kennedy is leaning toward Obama, according to the Clinton source, though Kennedy's office says he is making no endorsement "at this time."

30. Thanks, nailz!
"Clinton is undeterred by the criticism and will likely keep hammering Obama if he thinks it helps Hillary. "History will judge the impact on the Clinton legacy, not daily or weekly political reporters," says Matt McKenna, Bill Clinton's press secretary."

The big problem is..bill doesn't have a clue what hurts hillary.

4. Is MA a Feb 5th primary? If so, Kerry and Kennedy's endorsements should help.

10. Yes it is
Deval Patrick has endorsed too. I still don't think Kennedy will endorse unless it's just something outrageously over the top that has the entire party in an uproar. I hope Patrick, Kerry and some others in Mass are enough to give Obama a huge win there. He really needs it.

19. Would not surprise me at all
I sense that many party elders on both sides of the aisle are longing for the days before the fierce partisanship that has embodied the last 15-20 years. They've been around long enough to remember when they saw the other side as the opposition, not the enemy, and Obama represents the best chance to put aside the pettiness and go back to cooperating to accomplish things, or as Obama says, to disagree without being disagreeable.

20. Uncle Ted is The Man
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 01:37 PM by zulchzulu
I had the great fortune to drive Ted around Madison when he was here in 2004 to support Kerry in the Wisconsin primary.

The Kerry campaign had vans at the airport and I wasn't sure who I'd be driving around. Could be Kerry staffers. Could be reporters. When I saw Ted walking toward the van with his staff and others, I cheered quietly.

He got in the van and asked me how I was doing in that classic Boston accent. I said I was fine and we all got situated. He then asked me about a club he stayed at when he was campaigning for his brother John in 1960. I told him it was the Black Hawk Country Club. He laughed so hard and talked with me and others about how much fun it was back then.

I told him about how I had a letter from him when I was a kid where he responded to what it would be like to be a Senator. He was very happy about that story.

We drove to the downtown Madison area to a rally and I got to hang out backstage while he delivered a humorous yet thundering speech to a couple thousand people. Then we made it back to the van and back to the airport.

He was very down-to-Earth and as kind a person as you can be for all he's been through. The man is a true American treasure. His endorsement brings a lot of credibility.

Kennedy publicly endorsing Obama before Super Tuesday must be Clinton's dream.

29. I'll tell you what isn't going over well 'down south'.. the Clinton Tactics aren't going over well.
Don't think for one minute the manipulation is winning the hearts and minds down here. There will be no "pity" vote in the south. There IS a lot of anger.. at the Clintons and at the media.. and the tactics will backfire.

32. Strange, I haven't seen it down here, it's not showing in the polls, nor our OP in Florida...
Maybe among those you know, or maybe you have better information, but I think you'll be very surprised after Super Tuesday how well Clinton does in the South if you think there is widespread southern anger at Clinton.

25. Uncle Ted is staying on the sidelines..
"Kennedy's office says he is making no endorsement "at this time."

And well he shouldn't endorse a candidate that idolizes Reagan.
