Washington Post: Clinton team responds to allegations Obama won more delegates, says incorrect
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/01/clinton_won_or_did_she.html?hpid=topnews

UPDATE, 8:15 p.m: Both the chairwoman of the Nevada Democratic Party and a senior adviser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign are insisting that the contention that Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) won more delegates in today's caucus is incorrect.

"The calculations of national convention delegates being circulated are based upon an assumption that delegate preferences will remain the same between now and April 2008," said Jill Derby, the chairwoman of the state party. "We look forward to our county and state conventions where we will choose the delegates for the nominee that Nevadans support."

Howard Wolfson, communications director for Clinton, echoed that sentiment. "Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Caucuses today by winning a majority of the delegates at stake," he said. "The Obama campaign is wrong. Delegates for the national convention will not be determined until April 19."

3. You have to read between the lines on that one.
They're saying they won super-delegates and it's not official until April anyway. lol

4. By the same thinking, though, their conclusion seems to assume
that delegates will change their mind by April. I suppose if someone has a lock on the nomination the entire delegation will vote for whomever that is, but otherwise I would imagine they'd all remain with their candidate.

7. Clinton falls into Obama's trap: They are validating Obama's point
and keeping it alive. They should have ignored it.

9. They are spinning like spiders over there

"The calculations of national convention delegates being circulated are based upon an assumption that delegate preferences will remain the same between now and April 2008,"

They are basing their claims on the notion that Obama is out by then.
They are saying there is a possibility that Hillary will be the nominee by then so the delegates would be awarded differently.
They are also trying to muddy the waters by bringing up the 8 unpledged delegates.

The bottom line is this:
If Obama is still in the race for President in April 2008 he will receive 13 pledged delegates from NV

Does anyone see the major contradiction in Wolfson's statements:
"Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Caucuses today by winning a majority of the delegates at stake," he said.

"The Obama campaign is wrong. Delegates for the national convention will not be determined until April 19."

How can Hillary have won the the majority of delegates at stake if they haven't been determined?

10. And, by their logic, he could get them all in April. nt
