“These people came all this way to see us,” said Wright, a waffling Democrat who was excited by all the attention the candidates were paying her little city.
John Edwards had shown up Thursday night, but drew only about 100 people to a rowdy, century-old bar. And frankly, many of them were more interested in drinking and socializing than politics.

This is my old hometown and the girl is right. It has been a scary place to say you are a Democrat. I am proud of Elko that it has a huge Obama sign right in it's downtown right now. Don't want to go in to it but this is a huge step. (Hint: take a look at the demographics)
But what I really want to know is who from the John Edwards campaign scheduled his only visit there at the Star? People couldn't get in to see him. His turnout would have been much better if it was held at Elko High School.
And last, reporters may limit themselves to the demographics of the City of Elko limits. Just outside of Elko, within 20 miles are another 12-15,000 people who shop in Elko and attend events there.
