Hillary and Big Dawg on The Gipper: "He personified the indomitable optimism of the American people"
In cahoots --

...

Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, issued a statement that praised the former president for his optimistic outlook.

"Hillary and I will always remember President Ronald Reagan for the way he personified the indomitable optimism of the American people, and for keeping America at the forefront of the fight for freedom for people everywhere," their statement said.

His optimistic outlook?
Oh, for crying out loud.......he was a racist, sexist, intellectually incurious dinosaur. Give me a break.

9. This link is from the day Reagan died
and it is customary on hearing of an ex president to get a comment from other leaders. So what's Obama's excuse?

6. What a bag of shit!! Reagan fought for freedom everywhere but in the USA.
He busted unions, turned back civil rights for blacks, and ask those folks in central America if he was for freedom for everyone...especially in Gutamela.

Where did the Reagan praise talking points come from?
Either Clinton or Obama or both have Repub consultants on staff. I guess this is their lame attempt to appeal to crossover voters.

They've both been in DC way too long.

12. No, this is about an Obama video
that came today in which he praised Reagan, & the OP is taking something that Bill said when Reagan died to try to make a comparison.

15. He shouldn't excuse what he said
because it's pretty interesting and makes sense. It's just that people who don't support Obama refuse to understand what he means and instead prefer to play politics with his words.

11. Wanna know the truth? Reagan was a damn racist.....
And if Obama wishes to hold reagan up as some model to follow after, just so he can use the word INSPIRATIONAL, tells me something more about obama's character then reagan's......

Racist is as racist does. I care, really, how Reagan mistreated African American in his personal life. I care that prominent people seem to think that he wasn’t really a racist and I guess Obama must not either. What I care about is that Ronald Reagan, the patron saint of the Conservative Movement, made a career out of deliberately appealing to the racist vote. it brought him to power and it was a constant tool throughout his career. Ronald Reagan acted in public as a racist acts. He deliberately set out to appeal to racists and continue the odious Southern Strategy. In doing so, he helped to mainstream racism in the GOP and thus the country.

Ben David

18. Obama hates black people!
I think it was Reagan's ability to get elected in a landslide that Obama was looking at, not his policies.

25. Well maybe Obama should take a "look" at Reagan's Policies
before he opens big mouth, don't you think? Reagan was a 2 time president...FDR 4..maybe obama should take a refresher course in American History.

27. I think we can all agree that Obama has "looked" at Reagan's...
policies. Again, he wasn't saying that Reagan's policies were good. But, why do I bother...you don't like Obama and you are going to twist what Obama said to fit your mold of how "bad or repuke lite" you think Obama is.

23. Again, why are Barack's people attempting to obscure whatever it was
he said by bringing up what B/H said upon Reagan's death - like he'd have done anything less. Fact is, he didn't have to praise Reagan now - but, from the attempts to obfuscate his praise, by his handlers/supporters, I have to assume they know he let something 'slip' he should not have.

26. It is not obscuring it is pointing out the blatant hypocrisy from
Clinton supporters who are trying to blow something out of proportion. Was it bad exampled that Obama used to make his point...ehh...debatable... but people here are saying how Obama is betraying aids victims or the democratic party by saying what he said.

unfortunately, it has lead many of us, who otherwise were considering Obama, to reevaluate based upon his comments regarding Reagan - both in the campaign and in his book.

30. exactly
It's common courtesy to say extremely nice and generous things about somebody at their funeral.

It's also common courtesy to say extremely nice and generous things about somebody on their 100th birthday.

Like Trent Lott did.
