There has been a huge PR war between the Obama campaign and the Clinton campaign and both sides are very passionate about the candidates they support, but there are very small policy differences between the two candidates. The main fight between the two candidates is over image, who has the best personality to deliver “change”.
The political culture and the media culture is too focus on styles over substance, whenever people use their heart, and not their minds to judge or support a candidate, disappointment and disaster will follow. People need to think and discuss issues that really change the result and the lives of those who are marginalized and ignored all these years.
The 60s and the 70s were not an excess, polarization must happen when people are fed up enough to change the status quo, a stage of uncertainty is bound to occur when people are finally raising their consciousness and ready to fight for real changes, Obama’s rhetoric does not suggest a real change that challenges the status quo, Clinton ‘s campaign is also fine with making changes within the status quo system. Younger people ask “why can’t we all get along? Why can’t we just stop being so PC and be one happy family?”, older people seen all the bs and know that changes do not come easily and some have given in and stop fighting for real changes because they have seen so many failures, like Clinton.
I think what progressive people really need is a fighter, and someone who will not sleep with the enemies, nor use dirty tactics like the enemies, but someone who will stand up and really fight for real changes that make people uncomfortable, that make the establishment uncomfortable, that creates polarization and a stage of uncertainty, that raise people consciousness? Is there a real candidate that does that?
