Poll question: CNN's Roland Martin calls for Dean to intervene in Clinton-Obama dispute
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 03:36 PM by IndianaGreen
and tell them to lower the race rhetoric because it is harming the party. Martin's comments were made shortly before noon today.

Do you agree with Roland Martin that Howard Dean needs to call for a lowering of the race rhetoric?

11. There is nothing to intervene.......
Ordering candidates to watch what they say to avoid something being taken as racist or sexist or whatever is bullshit.

Besides, there is nothing disputable in what was said, and certainly nothing racist. What Hillary and Bill Clinton said are both factual.

27. No. But it is a fact that
LBJ, supposedly out of grief over Kennedy's assassination, decided to propel to the top of his (LBJ's) administration the passage of legislation Kennedy planned to enact. Perhaps the man was gone, but his legislative goals for his administration remained in plain sight, and LBJ decided to push them through.

It was said today that LBJ might have signed the literal act, but Martin Luther King, Jr. handed him the pen. I totally agree with that statement.

34. Hillary said none of it would have been possible without LBJ
When, in fact, LBJ could not have done anything without MLK handing him the Pen, as you say.

Her comments, intentionally or not, served to diminish the legacy of MLK.

19. It's not even the "nerve to run while black", just the nerve to run against a Clinton.
The fact that he's black just gives them an excuse to use ridiculous distortions based on his ethnicity and family background.

hillary's lame campaign is built on nada and Washington power brokers and Obama gets smeared and jeered from the dlcers so Obama is protectiing himself and his campaign.

Something's wrong with the analysis ..that it's a dispute. Just tell hillary to STFU, Dean..please.:)

John is behaving admirably. Hillary using too many Bush/Rove play book tactics and pissing everyone off. If this is an example of how she will be in the White House, no thanks. We have enough of that for the last 7 years. GOBAMA/EDWARDS

16. They should cool it on their own. Dean needs to stay out.
They better not make the debate a blood fest. It will only make them look bad.

When the pukes debate, they do nothing but eat each other and look divided and petty. Dems need to stay above that shit.

Please, for the debates, Keep it Clean.

22. There is no Race Rhetoric to lower!
Neither campaign is saying anything particularly racial. And neither candidate is saying much of anything. Both campaigns are being asked to comment about whatever some third party says because the media knows in America, race-war is a hot ratings topic. Then the other campaign has to comment on the first campaigns comment...

I've been watching the hews today, and every surrogate is forced to talk about who disrespected MLK or whatever, and none of the surrogates from either campaign are comfortable with it. They are not bringing it up.

They try to change the subject, but the media rats won't let them.

As well as supporters of each, especially here on the DU.
This is national news now and it really doesn't make the Democrats look very good.

Not sure what Dean, or anyone else, is going to do though.
