In Nevada: Lights go out on Obama, but he keeps talking
Lights go out on Obama, but he keeps talking

by Michael Martinez

PAHRUMP, Nev. – Where was Barack Obama when the lights went out?

In “The Shark Tank.”

That’s the name of the gymnasium of Rosemary Clarke Middle School in a rural town about an hour’s drive outside of Las Vegas. The school’s mascot is a smiling, strutting shark.

Fifty minutes into his last stump speech of the day, the lights suddenly failed, and Obama’s microphone went dead for five minutes Sunday night.

Only two stadium-style lights at the back of the gym illuminated the stage on which Obama was speaking, surrounded by about 800 people.

That didn’t stop Obama from answering – and his audience from asking – tough questions. His microphone began working after five minutes, but all lighting except the two floodlights remained powerless for the last 15 minutes of the speech.

5. Answering tough questions?
But I read on DU that Obama doesn't take questions from his audiences!
