Hillary on MTP re: NV Voter Suppression reminds me of W, No Comment in an Ongoing Court Case
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 07:19 PM by JackORoses
Russert asked her several times what her position on the issue was,
and all she could say was ,"Let the Courts decide"

She refused to state her personal position on the suit.

This is exactly what the Bush Admin does when confronted on any damning issue,
they say they cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.
In other words...Let the Courts decide!

1. Ugh. I can imagine what her Presidency will look like.
What a nightmare.

The Repubs will be filing left and right.

She said "Let the courts decide"
She would not take a position. How is that any different than No Comment?

3. Investigation? What investigation?
There's a lawsuit that has been filed with regard to the 'super precincts' set up by the party machine without any voter consultation to favor one single employment group.

But there's no 'investigation' that I am aware of. What investigation are you talking about?

And why should Clinton comment on a pending legal action, to which SHE IS NOT a party, that is going before a judge tomorrow?

To make you happy?

15. You do realize that the clinton campaign worked to set up these caucus sites don't you
it all changed when the culinary workers threw their endorsement to Obama.

23. You do realize that that isn't true, don't you?
It was the state party machine that set it up.

But way to go, there!

Much like the last debate. Can't wait for the next one.

25. She has no position. It's an ongoing suit. She isn't a party to it.
But actually, this move by the Teacher's Union (and the NV organization has NOT endorsed her--they aren't endorsing anyone) could HURT her, depending on how many of the CW union ignore the 'official' endorsement and go with an 'all politics is local' approach.

She's got quite a few supporters in the CW union. That union has a large share of hispanic voters, and the Clinton campaign has done no small amount of outreach to that sector. The endorsement doesn't help, but that outreach, that has been going on for some time, might mitigate the effect of it to a slight extent. Interesting inside baseball article, here: http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/ny-ushisp135536532jan13,0,3863275.story

Hispanics make up only between 12 and 15 percent of Nevada's Democratic electorate, but Clinton has spent virtually all of her time since New Hampshire courting the state's Mexican, Cuban, Central American and Puerto Rican populations.

Five of seven public appearances during Clinton's three-day swing through California and Nevada that ended yesterday were geared toward Hispanic voters. A sixth stop, to plug her proposed $70 billion economic stimulus package, also courted that group. A seventh was held at a Mexican restaurant.

A big part of Clinton's push is aimed at undermining Velasco's union - the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Local 226 - by appealing directly to its membership of dishwashers, busboys and other casino-industry food workers, which is nearly 40 percent Latino.....Clinton "is very focused on California" and sees Nevada as a way of honing messages that appeal to Latinos in the Golden State, an aide said.

"It's going to be hard for us," an aide said of her chances in Nevada. "The Culinary endorsement was a big deal."

Las Vegas and Los Angeles are too far apart to share a media market, but Clinton's message in Nevada is being disseminated by the national Spanish broadcast media and through word-of-mouth...

7. Of course she should not take a stand on a suit that could effect her
vote count! Can you imagine if she did? All hell would break loose. Good God, every candidate should stay out of the foundational stuff of each state. That would be a conflict of interest.

I am so tired of everyone jumping on Clinton and saying she is bush-like. It is wrong.

9. she could just say, "Let everyone vote"... but that would negatively effect her vote count
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 07:22 PM by JackORoses
I am sorry that it hurts to let you in on this,
but what is more Bush-like than Voter Suppression.

The People of NV will reject this.
Count on it.
