Could be wishful thinking, because I'd like to see my candidate win and JE come in second, but I think this lawsuit puts Hill in a difficult spot. If the lawsuit is successful, voters who feel disenfranchised will be less likely to vote for her, and if it's not, they'll already have heard that she's allegedly connected to the lawsuit and they'll be less likely to vote for her.

4. Dont see how. The teachers case seems valid...and the weighting unfair...

but the decision will be made one way or another, and the election will go on.

5. the will probably be thrown out by the judge tomorrow as they have no
jurisdiction over the Democratic Party proces in this. Some of the very idiots involved in the lawsuit voted for this thing. Harry Reid started it, it went through the proper process in the Nevada Party and it was signed off by the DNC.

Sad for Hillary because most people believe she is trying to stop people from voting because she didn't get her way again.

7. I'm hearing a lot about disenfrachisement, but some don't seem to mind it happening to the teachers
The whole situation is a mess...but the weighting of delegates and the inability to caucus are valid. I agree it may very well be thrown out though...

10. Anybody who has to work can't attend
Not just teachers. The 4,000 work site precincts were to accommodate large work sites. They weighted them the weight 4,000 sized precincts are weighted by law.

14. The teachers having to work caucus sites they arent allowd to participate in is plain unfair
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 05:16 PM by wlucinda
Sorry you see it differently.

As far as the weighting goes.. I think 50 voters should equal the same number of delegates statewide...regardless of which caucus location they are physically located in...

18. People have to work, boohoo
And what you think doesn't matter. The Democratic Party of Nevada gets to make their rules, according to their state law.

24. It's State Law
Each Party decides how they're going to elect their candidates. The Dem Party in Nevada decided to create at-large precincts to accommodate the thousands of people who work on the strip. Sounds like that's considering voters' rights to me.

They get different numbers of delegates based on the size of the precinct.

9. The parties set the caucus rules
"The Secretary of State plays a limited role in the caucus process. A caucus is governed by rules established by a political party. The Secretary of State’s office will provide both parties with the official registration file for the allocation of delegates, assist both of the parties in ensuring that any applicable federal and state election laws are enforced, and insure that all eligible voters who qualify pursuant to the respective political party rules have the ability to participate."

http://sos.state.nv.us/elections/nvelection/caucus.asp

Lots of people have to work during caucuses. The at-large precincts were to accommodate large organizations of 4,000 workers or more and the delegates appear to have been organized according to state law. I can't imagine the Secy of State allowing an illegal election to move forward.

6. Since the five members of the Teacher's Union who brought suit
have nothing to do with Hillary's campaign whatsoever, I'd say your analysis is a bit off base.

8. It's been pointed out to you that that is not true
and that their are indeed connections to Clinton supporters. Furthermore, every news outlet that I've seen is characterizing it that way. The perception will likely grow that Clinton is associated with this move. I wish I could feel badly for her, but I can't. I think her campaign has been going ugly for some time, an I'm sick of excusing it.

22. I'm sure there are "high ranking" members of the Teachers union
who are Obama supporters.

It doesn't link these five teachers who brought suit to Obama, does it?

You're not reasoning this through properly.

I realize you hope this will somehow stick to Clinton's campaign, and that's completely understandable, you want her to lose. But, in this instance, there is no empirical evidence whatsoever to support your conclusions or charges.

13. And the teachers have a legitimate argument
this whole thing smacks so much of Karl Rove.

If Rove is helping anyone's campaign, its Obama's.

The worst part is between primaries and caucuses she's gets cranky and hungry.

Luckily I've a supply of old out dated Wang computers for her to munch on. That's her favorite.

I doubt it will have any effect unless they are actually successful in shutting down the caucus locations. Baring that I doubt many will hear of it here. It just isn't making the news that much here.
