Clinton Surrogate Makes Veiled Reference to Obama's Drug Use
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Speaking in Columbia, S.C., BET founder Bob Johnson was introducing Clinton and made a veiled swipe at Barack Obama's past drug use. The last surrogate to talk about Obama and drugs, former Clinton New Hampshire campaign co-chair Bill Shaheen, was removed from the campaign after doing so.

Here is what Johnson said today:

"I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won't say what he was doing but he said it in his book."

When Clinton spokesman Jay Carson was asked about Johnson's comments, he denied they referred to Obama's admitted drug use. "That's not what he was talking about," he said.

Carson speculated that Johnson may have been referring to Obama's time spent as a community organizer.

.................

yeah, I'm sure that is what he was referring to.

32. What about Bill and Penelope Cruz?
And Bill and Demi Moore when she was married to Bruce Willis. From what I heard, that nearly broke up there marriage. It's the 90's all over again only this time there's no jobs or health care and Hillary will have her nice little war in Iraq to manage to boot.

34. the book says
On Drugs: Understand why youngsters want to use drugs

Junkie. That's where I'd been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man.

Except the highs hadn't been about me trying to prove what a down brother I was.

Not by then, anyway. I got high for just the opposite effect, something that could push questions of who I was out of my mind, something that could flatten out the landscape of my heart, blur the edges of my memory.

I had discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van, or in the dorm room of some brother you'd met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl.

You might just be bored, or alone. Everybody was welcome into the club of disaffection. And if the high didn't solve whatever it was that was getting you down, it could at least help you laugh at the world's ongoing folly and see through all the hypocrisy and bullshit and cheap moralism.

Hillary can't have it both ways; appropriating Bill's time in The White House as 'political experience' for herself, while asking everyone to ignore HIS personal past.

And did he only use or did he do other illegal things? I know that cocaine sniffing appeals to Obama's supporters...why else would they defend his habit? I think that drug addiction is something repubs will latch onto in the GE~~~and why shouldn't they? Cocaine snorting is not exactly something one wants to teach to one's kids (well, most people, YOU on the other hand probably think otherwise).:hi:

Another question, which is more morally questionable: doing coke or being on the board of Wal-Mart for 6 years and continually supporting Bush's War of choice?

because repubs would never bring such a thing up. You seem not to understand what "vetted" means. Obama must be vetted if he is to be the nominee. Being the nominee will not free him from legitimate charges. I didn't want a coke snorting president when bush was running and I don't want one now. I don't think that bush's coke us excuses Obama's.

25. Any one of the naysayers/doomsayers on this thread have any...
proof that Hillary encouraged the BET head to make that comment while introducing her? Verifiable proof?

That is not a situation where the head of a campaign can beat the offender over the head with a 2x4. Was this guy a surrogate(acting for Clinton)or not?

I see no proof that this is so, so there is little need to say more. Unfortunate that Hillary was prevented from escaping these remarks made by another...but individuals do say things that are in bad taste whether they think it through or not. Did Hillary at any time in her speech continue the theme? Don't see that she did. If you have proof that she continued those remarks then bring it in here.

This is where the dirt gets spread. This stuff is what Rovian thinking wants to get done. Divide them/Defeat them.

Some of you are too clever by half.
