No Honeymoon for the next President - whoever it is
My proposal is that whoever the next president is get absolutely NO HONEYMOON in the 1st year of their administration.
The reason: Our country is on the brink of depression and our blood and treasure is being drained in the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our infrastructure is crumbling and on the brink of collapse. Decisive action must be taken yesterday. Our country has fallen to such an extent that just to get our economy and international standing to where it was in 2000 will take about another 20-30 years at a minimum, if ever.
If this country is to survive, the next president has to start work on Day one. They need to go straight from the inauguration to the office and get to work immediately. No Inaugural Ball, no ceremonies or celebrations, just get right to the job. The next president needs to immediately start withdrawing our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. They need to have the BFEE arrested for their crimes and immediately put on trial for their myriad crimes. The next president needs to immediately start a public works program to get people working again on the scale of the New Deal. They need to tell corporate lobbyists that they are banned from the halls of power. And that's just for the first week in office. All these things are long overdue and it is crucial that we don't waste a second.
If they don't start doing these things, then the protests and demonstrations need to commence immediately. It is time for the people to drive what a president does in office, not just select who gets the job. We need to push the next president mercilessly. No benefit of the doubt. The catchphrase of the next administration should be "deeds not words" . Rhetorical pablum designed to lull the people into complacency should be roundly rejected. We need immediate action and should tolerate no talk of "keeping powder dry" or anything else that delays action.

When the Nazis were on the outskirts of Moscow in 1940, Stalin held a parade at Red Square. The troops and tanks in review rolled past the podium at Lenin's Tomb and headed straight for the front.
That is what we face, people. As soon as the new president passes the podium, it's off to the front. We should demand nothing less from our leaders and it is up to us to hold their feet to the fire from minute one.

1. The Repukes have destroyed this country. Rebuilding will be no piece of cake.
We must make sure to reverse most of what the Repukes have done, if not all.

2. That's my exact point
There is not a minute to lose. The people need to be the watchdogs to make sure that the admin actually does something about.

3. I pray everything gets reversed. It took the Repukes years to destroy everything.....
.... reversing the damage will not be done overnight. It will take time, but you're 100% right that there's not 1 minute to lose! Too many people are suffering, and this country teeters on fascism.

4. actually youNEED that 'honeymoon'...
It is that short period in which the President can push through bills and make changes with the least resistance. anything within 18 months of an election means the Congress is campaigning and the politics of re-election come into play. Thus each p
This was one of the problems Jimmy Carter faced that could have been avoided. He had not fleshed out his agenda, nor had he lined up qualified cabinet members and important agency chiefs ahead of time. Actually his only really good pre-approved choice was for AG Griffin Bell(and some would argue against that as well). Clinton could be faulted to a lesser degree on this as well.

5. Their honeymoon should be prior to inauguration
Once they take the oath, then they need to work fast. If they don't then we need to be nipping at their heels to keep them from backsliding on their promises that they hope we'll forget about during the honeymoon.
We gave Nancy Pelosi a honeymoon and the benefit of the doubt and she fucked us royally. No more!
