Can we all pledge to stop turning our candidates' names into childish, Freeper-like slurs?

Can we all pledge to stop turning our candidates' names into childish, Freeper-like slurs?
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 11:46 PM by Bicoastal
I've already seen a "Shrillery" here and an "Obummer" there, and it's just plain pissing me off--we've gotta be better than this.

Not only have I seen the same tactics used at FreeRepublic when I lurk there, I've seen the exact same NAMES. And that's saying a lot. But the Freepers have this awful, irritating habit of doing that for the names of EVERY politician and Op-Ed writer they disagree with, regardless of party, until their jargon-filled posts become completely incomprehensible and unreadable--I mean, moreso than usual.

So, I'm gonna take the lead and pledge to leave the good names of Obama, Hillary, and Edwards, as well as their spouses and endorsers, untouched. Who's with me?

(BTW--if you think charges of sexism and racism are bad here, you should see the kind of stuff leveled at them at the Other Place without a second thought. I've seen "Hilldebeast" and I've seen "Barack Mandingo Obama," and it just goes downhill from there...)

15. I hate it
I absolutely hate it. And in some cases, it's done by otherwise courteous, rational people. Amazing to me.

3. The problem is that you cannot tell who is who ... can you?
I try not to commit such slurs, but the Republican trolls surely will not refrain.

11. Well if they make it against the rules....
That gives the Republican trolls one less tool to divide us, doesn't it?

How do you get something like this to the mods, I think we really should suggest it.

8. We Americans laugh at the formal cordiality in Congress, but

the decorum has probably held both Houses together all these years. Of course, we have more fun... but I agree with the OP. :kick:

12. oh without a doubt
I agree with you, excellent post. I seriously can see some annoying 'preacher', oh let's say, JOHN HAGEE, saying in October - "it will be an abomination to make this an Obama nation!"

I went just now and typed in the two words into google and found the forgers of filth flaunting the fanciful wording in blog after blog, and I know they'll be saying utter CRAP like that against Clinton, Edwards or Obama, and I think that it will just rally us even more to stand up against their false 'Godliness' and call them out as the spineless bigots they are. I mean, they already call Clinton a b*tch, Edwards a f***ot, and Obama a Muslim n****r, so really, if that doesn't join us together to fight them, I don't know what will.

GO JOHN!!!
