3. Are we not all Democrats? Can't we save our bile for the Repukes?
I'm increasingly appalled. It's almost as if some of us WANT to split the party to guarantee another Repuke presidency. I don't get it at all.

5. I agree. When's the last time we had an inciteful repudiation of Republicans?
I posted a thorough repudiation of Supply-Side economics the other day and it got no attention because I didn't hurl any accusations of racism and sexism.

6. Because there are people who don't like "loyalty oaths" here.
Because there are people who, if one candidate ends up being the nominee, they will flatly refuse to vote for that nominee that they hate. Even against a Republican.

When I see posts here trolling for third party candidates, that says volumes about how ridiculous this forum has become.

16. So you believe that all Democrats are good? No Democrat would ever be fascist?
How wonderful to be so certain. Easy for you, red vs. blue, Democrat vs. republican. I don't see it that way. I am a free American first. I believe the forces that want to corporatize this Country may cloak themselves in Democrat clothing. Voting for a corporatist Democrat is no better than voting for a republican. If you just go along with any Democrat then you will deserve what you get.

17. I believe it is far less likely.
I will vote for any Democrat over virtually every Republican with few exceptions over court appointments if nothing else. I know enough about virtually every major elected Republican to make this statement.

22. I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 because I didn't believe there was any difference between...
Bush and Gore.

And I am genuinely ashamed of that vote.

Let's just say that I'm leery of voting third party, ok?

18. It would be simple for the Democratic Party to include those that voted for Nader.
They just have to adjust their principles and platform to left of center. How dare you ask those of us that never, ever supported the George Bush neocon war, to support some one that did and does. It wasn't the people that abandoned the party but the party abandoned the people. If you get 8 more years of republican rule then maybe you didn't oppose fascism as much as you should have.

26. There's this strange idea that the majority of voters are uber-left wing.
I can tell you, that certainly is not true. Moving our views in line with Nader would not have resulted in 51% of the vote, but more like 42%. In 2000, people were not in the mood for very left-wing positions.

28. I didn't say that the party had to embrace Nader but give us something please.
If the Democratic candidate can't commit to repealing the Patriot Act, and the MCA, stopping spying, ending torture, then what do you expect.

But you are right. If the candidate commits to upholding the Constitution then they may loose some votes and maybe the election. I say we take the chance. Damnit stand up for your principles.

46. Right, you know that I didn't oppose Fascism
And that I didn't work to prevent the takeover of the Republican party since I graduated high school in the 60's, or that ......

never mind. Keep dreaming that left of center will win the election. If that was true, Dennis Recountsicnish would be leading in the race. All of you ideologues forget that the country STILL consists of 50% Conservative thinking people and 50% Liberal thinking people, and until you GET into office, you can't effect change. Look at what Booshe did, ran as a "compassionate" Conservative and became an out of control monster.

Stay pure, the world isn't.

I have been asking over and over for someone to explain how those of us that want:
peace and an end to the war
decent health care
no spying
habeas corpus
repeal of the Patriot Act and MCA
the end of torture, secret prisons and rendition.
fair elections

how are we left wing?

39. What disenfranchisement?
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 01:34 AM by Harvey Korman
One UNION is suing another UNION, for what they perceive to be unfair voting conditions under applicable law. No individual or group is being denied the right to participate. If any affected candidate so wishes, he may move to intervene in the lawsuit.

Again, stop the histrionics. It's not helping your candidate; in fact all the cries of "FRAUD!" "RACIST!" and "VOTER SUPPRESSION!" in the world aren't going to win him more votes.

The people starting Democrat Bashing Flamefests are either just plain Ignorant or hidden Repukes trying to create division.

They are pitting our own community against each other because they have no other way to win this fight.

The ONLY way they win in November is if we destroy ourselves.

I will say it again:

WHEN YOU CREATE A CIRCULAR FIRING SQUAD ALL THE ENEMY NEEDS TO DO TO WIN IS TO KEEP SUPPLYING THE AMMUNITION.

It needs to stop and it is harming our community.

Our Candidates need to stand up and say "ENOUGH, WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THE MEDIA AND THE RW SPIN MACHINE TO PIT US AGAINST EACH OTHER"
